A New Playing Field-The Rock Stars Samuel Ademu & Christopher Fatoye : The Fixers in Motion Sam and Chris are more than just colleague they are integeral to our retail operation, the ones who ensured the wheels never stopped turning. Whether it was fixing loose ends, tightening bolts, or aligning moving parts, they were always on the move, filling the gaps others overlooked. They weren’t the loudest voices in the room, nor the ones basking in the spotlight. Instead, they thrived in the trenches, where real work happened. When things went south, people didn’t look for explanations they looked for Sam and Chris. One rule: No excuses. Just solutions. It was a mindset that set them apart. They didn’t wait for instructions; they anticipated problems before they arose-Thats the level of ownership they demostrated. One of my mentors always said, "As a leader, you are definitely not the smartest in the room. But you are the one who makes different smart people work together effectively for the overall goal of the organization." Sam and Chris are great team players. Their satisfaction came from knowing that, no matter the challenge, they were always on the move, fixing strings and tightening nuts,wherever and whenever needed. A New Playing Field!! I walked into BrandCo’s headquarters, eager to absorb as much as I could. The one-on-one induction sessions were intense yet insightful. I wanted to understand everything, store operations, wholesale partnerships,customer engagement,trade marketing and consumer marketing strategies. My first few weeks was all about listening, observing, and asking relevant questions. It quickly became clear that selling footwear and apparel wasn’t just about putting products on shelves; it was about creating a positive experience for customers,a key factor to winning the war at retail. in the first 60days, I had begun actively monitoring store operations, ensuring that maintenance, IT issues, supplies, security, and finance-related concerns were tracked and resolved efficiently.....
