A 3-hour workshop facilitated by our Head Coach for prospective Fellows participating in the 2024 Teach For Nigeria Pre-Service Institute on the topic 'Learning Experience and Design: An Exploration of Learning Theories and their Application in the Classroom.' Joanna Temlong discussed the fundamental principles of the Cognitivist, Constructivist and Behaviourist approach to Teaching and Learning in the classroom. Mrs Temlong started the workshop by asking the question: 'Why is it important to understand learning theories as a teacher?' Once the foundation was laid, participants where guided through the features of each learning theory and were asked to continuously reflect on 'what would your role look like in the classroom as a Cognitvist/ Constructivist/ Behaviourist teacher?' The session was thought-provoking and provided opportunities for practical applications and engaging discussions. Participants were divided into break-out rooms where they completed a group task to assimilate their learning. An after-class assessment and feedback were also issued. #teachertraining #onlineworkshop #professionaldevelopment

I was honoured to facilitate a training workshop on 'Learning Experience and Design' for prospective Fellows participating in the Teach For Nigeria 2024 Pre-Service Institute. This invitation was particularly special to me, as many already know, I completed the Teach First programme in 2015-2017, both organisations part of Teach For All. I reflected on when I was in the same position as the Fellows, nearly 10 years ago, anxious yet excited to teach my first class in September. Nearly 400 participants joined the online workshop! We explored key Educational theories and their application to the classroom. As I shared with the Fellows, I undoubtedly experienced hurdles and challenges along the way, but leaning on a strong support system and embracing the journey was paramount! (I was blessed to have Joanne Oguntimehin and Sabrina A. on the programme with me 😊 👯) Well done to FLORA GABTONY (Flourishing Flora) Nwachinemere 1 of Ebenile and her team for organising an in-depth and impactful Training Institute, I look forward to working with you and the team in the future! 👏

LEARNING CONTINUES... 🤗😁 ✅🇳🇬💚✅🇳🇬💚✅🇳🇬💚 One of the things Teach For Nigeria (TFN) prioritises is the continuous training and development of us TFN Fellows and today witnessed another pedagogical learning experience with Joanna Temlong of Fassara Education who facilitated the Zoom Training session. As a 21st Century Educator, I am happy to be reminded how the choice of my teaching methods and learning theories matter in the learning experience of my learners. In deed, learning never ends for anyone who wishes to make impacts and lead. Thank you TFN for offering us these opportunities to learn. A thought provoking conversation with Paul A. on ‘Rebuilding Africa’s Education System’. He emphasised the necessity for all citizens to understand and play an active role in developing our Education system. It cannot solely be left to country governments, but local authorities and communities should devise systems to ensure that educative initiatives are implemented and most importantly, maintained. Africa has certainly made measurable progress with increasing the number of students going to school, efforts to integrate technology in the classroom and more. HOWEVER, there is still much work required to meet SDG4 targets and in creating a robust system that is accessible for all. As a Continent, it is important that we take advantage of our demographic dividend. With a large youth population, countries should invest in Education. We need to adequately prepare and upskill students for the labour force & cultivate their potential! Everyone should be a Stakeholders in Education 📌📌 For the full conversation : https://lnkd.in/dmQYwCCR 🔗
