Millets are small-seeded cereal crops that belong to the grass family; they thrive in dry conditions, making them an ideal crop for areas with limited rainfall. Millet's drought resistance, water efficiency, and ability to maintain soil health through its extensive root system, as well as its rich nutritional value, make it an ideal crop for addressing malnutrition. Millet cultivation in Nigeria is primarily shaped by local knowledge and traditional farming methods passed down through generations. Climatic changes, land degradation as well as interest in cash crops have, over time, led to a decline in production. The Global market size for Millet is estimated to grow from $11.02 billion in 2023 to $13.80 billion by 2028 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.60 percent between 2023-2028.
