Misinformation surrounding traditional birthing practices has long been a challenge for pregnant women, leaving them vulnerable to unsafe methods and complications. In many communities, harmful beliefs often take precedence over medically safe practices, putting both mother and child at risk. In addressing this, through Project Agbebi, a life-changing initiative aimed at equipping women with accurate knowledge and safer birthing options with support from @accesscorp, we have visited 16 Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs) across Nasarawa, where we engage with 2000 pregnant women directly, providing hands-on training to debunk myths and empower them with essential maternal health knowledge and birthing kits. Let's keep and protect the mothers and the health of their babies. #projectagbebi #safemotherhood #savethechild #empowerwomen #hacey

HACEY, with support from Access Corporation, is transforming maternal health through #ProjectAgbebi. With over 30,000 women reached across 20 states, we’re addressing maternal mortality by providing safe birthing kits, health education, and community support. Recently, we visited Meiran Primary Health Centre in Lagos, distributing maternity materials to pregnant women and making an impact. Together, we’re creating a safer future for women and their newborns in Nigeria. #MaternalHealth #ProjectAgbebi #SafeBirth #HACEY#AccessCorporation #Healthcare #MaternalMortality #WomenEmpowerment #Nigeria

Pain has quietly settled into the lives of many girls, often misunderstood and accepted as something they must live with. At our SRHR Media Lab in Oyo State, our program intern, Anjola Oyelola had an interview with Adenike Adeoye founder of the Young Advocate Network in SRHR, for a candid conversation. Together, they explored pressing issues around sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Adenike recalled a school outreach on menstrual hygiene that left a lasting impression. She had explained how menstruation works and the pain that sometimes accompanies it. In response, one student’s words struck her: “Pain isn’t a big deal for women because it’s something we’re born to handle.” The girl went on to say her mother had told her this, using stories from the Bible to reinforce the idea that suffering is a woman’s lot in life. But that wasn’t the worst of it. The student also revealed that in her community, some girls are told that having sex will ease their menstrual pain. This harmful myth, spread by friends and even adults, leads girls to believe that sex is the answer to their discomfort. It was at that moment Adenike realized just how deep these dangerous misconceptions run. It became clear that girls not only need accurate information, but also empathy and guidance to unlearn these false beliefs. Pain is not something they are destined to accept, and sex is certainly not the solution. Misinformation like this does more than cause unnecessary suffering—it puts girls at risk of exploitation. To protect them, we must offer not only the right information, but also the care and compassion they need to understand their bodies and keep themselves safe. #srhrimpactplus #misconception #hacey

Imagine a world where every girl is empowered with the skills and resources to shape her own destiny—a world where investing in girls transforms not only their lives but strengthens the entire society. In our out of state School tour, girls gathered, and learned how to take control of their future. Through interactive discussions, they were inspired to not only dream big but to turn those dreams into actionable plans. They learned the importance of setting clear goals, planning with intention, and taking decisive steps toward achieving their aspirations. These young leaders left with more than just knowledge—they gained the confidence and tools to create the future they envision, not just for themselves, but for their communities. #EmpowerHer #GirlsLeadership #InvestInGirls #FutureChangeMakers #StrongerTogether #hacey
