𝗜 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁! I visited Dipo’s lodge, the very place where we once laughed and planned our future, I found myself sobbing, lost in confusion. "We don’t know what to do," I choked out, my voice barely above a whisper. Dipo’s face twisted in disbelief. “It’s not possible, Funke. I barely slipped the tip in before putting on a condom. Your baby’s father is not me.” I felt the words pierce through me like a blade. What was he saying? That I cheated? That I had been with someone else? No. That wasn’t true. I had only ever been with Dipo. I have never even kissed another boy, let alone had sex with one. So how? How could I be pregnant? My mother, Sarah, has worked tirelessly since my father passed away ten years ago. She has sacrificed everything to make sure I stay in school, to ensure we have a roof over our heads. And now… this? How will I tell her? How will she look at me? I thought back to that moment with Dipo. He didn’t go all the way in—just the tip. Could that really be enough to change my entire life? The shame weighed heavy on me. My friends didn’t believe me. My classmates whispered behind my back. And WAEC—the exams that were supposed to shape my future—loomed just around the corner. Just the ‘tip’ made me a teenage mother. I wiped my tears, but the fear stayed. And then Dipo spoke again. “I have a solution,” he said, his voice low and serious. “I’m not doing this because I think the baby is mine—because it’s not—but because I really like you. I know a place where you can get rid of it.” My breath hitched. Abortion?! I looked at him, eyes wide in shock. He must have noticed my reaction because he added, “Or… you could just keep it and become a mum at fifteen.” Fifteen. A mother at fifteen. 𝙈𝙮 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣?
