Highlights from the 2024 IADC HSE Awards & Technical Session, where industry leaders and innovators came together to celebrate excellence in safety! A special moment as we recognized the IADC PTI CHAPTER Students Chapter — the first student chapter in Nigeria and Africa. Thank you for your incredible participation and support. On the 13th of September 2024, the IADC PTI Chapter was privileged to attend the IADC Nigeria Chapter's HSE Awards, a truly inspiring event that brought together great minds and industry dignitaries from across the oil and gas sector. The day began with a coffee break while awaiting the arrival of guests, followed by an official commencement, where a safety brief was delivered by the hotel staff. The program moved forward with the recognition of distinguished guests and an insightful safety moment led by Mr. Chukwudi Enwereji, CPP . Mr. Valentine Iheasirim , Chairman of the IADC Nigeria Chapter, set the tone with a powerful opening speech, after which we had the pleasure of hearing from our esteemed guest speakers. Engr. Ihuoma Okorie spoke on Competency Training in the Oil and Gas Industry, while Mrs. Mercy Etuk delivered a compelling talk on Developing and Sustaining Competency in Critical Roles. The event also featured an enlightening question from Iriah Destiny, which sparked engaging conversations and valuable insights. We then transitioned into the awards presentation, led by Vice Chairperson Mrs. Abioye Shokoya-Eleshin (fbdi, mpi), and it was an honor to have the IADC PTI Chapter recognized. Our chapter was represented with a presentation by the Chairman Ikechukwu Divine Sobechukwu PET, followed by a wonderful presentation by Faculty Advisor, Engr. E.O. Ogunyemi. The event also featured an IADC Headquarters Update from Mr. Hisham Zebian Zebian, concluding with a vote of thanks by the Secretary General of the IADC Nigeria Chapter. The day wrapped up with networking opportunities and a delightful lunch. "I had the privilege of representing Westend Diamond Energy Limited at the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC Nigeria Chapter ) Annual HSE Awards, and what an incredible experience it was! I had the opportunity to connect with some truly inspiring individuals, including the keynote speakers Engr. Mercy Ntuk MNSE, FNISafetyE,MNSChE,MISPON and Ms. Ihuoma Okorie, who shared valuable insights on the importance of Competency Training in the drilling industry. I also had the pleasure of meeting Hisham Zebian, the IADC Vice President, Eastern Hemisphere also Ms. Ann Dominic from the IADC Nigeria Chapter, who are both doing fantastic work in promoting drilling safety and excellence. One of the highlights of the event was meeting the pioneering students from IADC PTI CHAPTER the first student chapter in Africa, PTI Warri - their enthusiasm and passion for the industry are truly contagious! Overall, the event was a fantastic platform to network with like-minded professionals, learn from industry experts, and make meaningful connections. Yesterday the IADC Nigeria Chapter had another great event celebrating their members at their HSE Awards event in Lagos, Nigeria. Members also had the chance to meet with students from the first IADC Student Chapter in Africa from the Petroleum Training Institute IADC PTI CHAPTER. It is always great to be in Nigeria with dear friends and colleagues, looking forward for my next trip!

It's a great opportunity for IADC to invest in the talent that will shape our industry's future. Up to 20 scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded to active or incoming IADC Student Chapter Members who apply. All grade levels accepted.
