A fulfilled day indeed! Yesterday, I hosted Distinguished Professor Damilola S. Olawuyi, SAN, FCIArb on the first edition of "Green Growth Dynamics" on Green Growth TV & Studios. Professor Olawuyi is a distinguished Professor and UNESCO Chair on Environmental Law and Sustainable Development at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha, Qatar. He is also the Director of the Institute for Oil, Gas, Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development and a Deputy Vice Chancellor at Afe Babalola University, Ekiti, Nigeria. He is an Independent Expert on the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights, Vice Chair of the International Law Association globally and the President of its Nigeria Branch - International Law Association-Nigerian Branch. Prof. Olawuyi is the Chair of the Academic Advisory Group of the International Bar Association’s SEERIL, among several other positions. He holds a Doctorate (DPhil) in Energy and Environmental Law from the University of Oxford, a Master of Laws (LLM) from Harvard University and another LLM from the University of Calgary. He is a Barrister and Solicitor in Alberta, Canada; Ontario, Canada; and Nigeria. A regular media commentator, he frequently shares insights on natural resources, energy, and environmental law. Indeed, an honour, it was, to host Prof. Damilola on the first edition of "Green Growth Dynamics" which I am privileged to be the host. Great to be back in Abuja, Nigeria to speak at the Annual Lecture of the Nigerian Body of Benchers, the legal body of highest distinction in the Nigerian legal profession. The event was chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kekere-Ekun, GCON. In my remarks, I discussed the need for entrepreneurial legal education to keep pace with latest developments on the ethical use of artificial intelligence, globalization and sustainability. In his interview, Professor Olawuyi’s reflections on the evolving role of international law are profound, emphasizing the need for robust legal systems that not only facilitate the shift towards renewable energy but also ensure that vulnerable communities are not left behind.
