We are delighted to welcome Dr. Femi Oyedokun, our MSc Coordinator and the IFP representative, who has recently begun delivering lectures on “Toward a Low Carbon Energy World” to our MSc students. He commenced this exciting course yesterday with a comprehensive Overview of the Energy Industry and a deep dive into the Decarbonization Challenges facing the sector. Dr. Oyedokun is currently covering key topics such as Greenhouse Gases, Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS), Renewable Energy Technologies, and Power Generation. He has also provided valuable insights into the Carbon Footprint of both offshore and onshore production, outlining the primary sources of emissions and highlighting the drawbacks of hydrocarbon fuels and gas usage. His lessons focus on global warming and the subsequent climate change issues that arise from these activities. Our discussions now center around greenhouse gas emissions associated with oil and gas production, examining ongoing improvements aimed at reducing these emissions in the short term. In particular, Dr. Oyedokun is emphasizing actions such as Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) and afforestation as part of broader mitigation strategies to lessen the negative environmental impacts. Dr. Femi Oyedokun brings a wealth of experience to the course. As the former Project Manager of the IFP Training in France and with a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, his industry expertise and strong academic foundation offer an enriching learning experience. His groundbreaking research in areas such as drilling, reservoir management, production, machine learning, petrophysics, and geomechanics provides our students with fresh and valuable perspectives. We are honoured to have Dr. Oyedokun lead this vital course and look forward to the impactful learning journey ahead. #IPES #Energy #PetroleumEngineeringandProjectDevelopment #ProductionModule #TowardaLowCarbonEnergyWorld #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #NetZero TotalEnergies NNPC Limited IFP School
