This week, our teams across #kpmgafrica were actively engaged in #shapingthefuture of #familybusiness across Africa. We kicked off with the 4th Private Capital Conference in Dar es Salaam hosted East Africa Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (EAVCA) where Solomon Kîhang'a and Zipporah M. delved into the unique challenges and opportunities facing family businesses, exploring strategies for sustained growth and private capital investment. Then on Friday 25 October 2024, we held a Pan-African Conversation with #PrivateWealth Bankers: myself and Joyceline Nhyira Coleman, as the private enterprise leaders, led a team of experts Creagh Sudding from our South Africa office, Opeyemi Oduwole, CFA and Sharon Acquaye from our West Africa office, and Solomon Kîhang'a and Zipporah M. from our East Africa office, who shared valuable insights on wealth management, governance structures, and regional nuances. Earlier this week, the Cyber Unit team of KPMG Nigeria had the opportunity to speak with the students at Queen’s College, Yaba, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to create cybersecurity awareness in the society. With October being Cyber Security Awareness Month, the Cyber Unit set out to sensitize these students about various issues in the digital space. During this interactive signature event, topics such as the Safe Use of Social Media, Cyberbullying, Online Gaming Etiquette, the correct use of Artificial Intelligence, Deepfakes, and Cyber Career paths were discussed and facilitated by some of our KPMG cyber professionals: Tobi K. Mustapha, Adetola Olamade, Kolisenye Nwaboku, Eriola Akingboye. The students learnt how to resolve online-based problems and safely navigate cyberspace. In addition, pertinent issues like cyberbullying were discussed, detailing the process of not responding to trolls, informing a trusted adult, blocking the bully, and maintaining good privacy settings while using social media. The session was led by KPMG Cyber Senior Manager, Laolu Agbaje and Manager, Seyi Ajiboye, CISSP, CISA, CEH, CHFI, ACSE.
