This year, “Girls’ vision for the future” is the theme for International Day of the Girl Child. While we are all saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the girl child’s safety and a strongly secured future, let’s continue to address gender disparities and discrimination that affect girls’ lives. KwaraLEARN has engaged more girls (over 85,000 across 16 LGAs) in class since inception through the push for continuous enrolment of pupils, especially the disadvantaged and discriminated. All children were given equal opportunities to excel. Many girls are still denied their rights, restricting their choices and limiting their futures. However, when girls are valued by the society and when girls lead; the impact is immediate and wide-reaching: stronger families and prosperous economies – a brighter future. Though, the future for young girls is not yet written; we all need to act to positively change the paths of their lives and foster broader societal progress. UNICEF has identified 5 game-changing solutions with and for the Girl Child. 1. For Every Girl - health services that protect against cervical cancer, HIV, and maternal mortality. 2. For Every Girl - a life free from malnutrition and anaemia. 3. For Every Girl - a quality education that provides learning, relevant skills, and agency to chart her own course. 4. For Every Girl - safety and freedom from violence and harmful practices. 5. For Every Girl - economic support to expand opportunities and the power to determine her future. It is time to listen to girls, to invest in proven solutions that will accelerate progress towards a brighter future in which every girl can fulfil her potential. In echoing the voices of girls and advocates around the world who are working towards a brighter and more equitable future for all - KwaraLEARN remains resolute in its promise of providing “quality education” for all Kwara children. #DayOfTheGirl #GirlsEmpowerment #GirlsRights #GirlChildEducation #EqualityForGirls

Still celebrating the HEROES & HEROINES of our society. #WorldTeachersDay2024
-
In 2024, World Teachers' Day focuses on the theme "Valuing teacher voices: Towards a new social contract for education." While identifying the rights and responsibilities of teachers, as well as their professional development – it is universally accepted that teachers’ voices should NOT be ignored, rather their voices should be amplified. In highlighting the need to establish a more robust social dialogue with teachers everywhere; this year’s theme underscores the firmness of engaging with teachers to address the challenges they face but, most importantly, to acknowledge and benefit from the expert knowledge and input they bring to education. KwaraLEARN charges all to join this global concern; calling on governments everywhere, to value the voices of teachers, invest in the teaching profession and in “quality public education”. #WorldTeachers’Day2024 #ValuingTeachers’Voices #TeacherAppreciation #SupportTeachers #TeachTheFuture #EveryChildCounts #KwaraLEARN
