Young people are leading the charge in digital adoption and innovation, with three-quarters of those aged 15 to 24 using the internet in 2022, a rate higher than other age groups. However, disparities persist, particularly in low-income countries and among young women, who often have less access to the internet and digital skills compared to their male counterparts. While there is an urgent need to enhance digital inclusion, youth are largely recognized as “digital natives,” using technology to drive change and create solutions. As the 2030 deadline for the SDGs approaches, the role of young people in digital innovation is essential for addressing global issues. By celebrating the digital contributions of youth, we can inspire further innovation and collaboration towards achieving sustainable development. #linkedinnurses #nursing #UN #youth

Why do we feel the need to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week? Of what significance is its advocacy? 🤔 World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7) shines a spotlight on a crucial public health issue: the need for universal breastfeeding support. The theme this year, Closing the Gap, Breastfeeding Support for All, addresses disparities in breastfeeding support and aims to create a more inclusive environment for all mothers. According to UNICEF, only 29% of mothers in Nigeria exclusively breastfeed their infants, compared to 70% in other African countries with high rates of continued breastfeeding at one year. This discrepancy stresses the need for improved support and education on the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. Evidence shows that exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months decreases the risk of malnutrition and infant mortality. This year's World Breastfeeding Week emphasizes our collective responsibility to support breastfeeding mothers through comprehensive measures and policies. Investing in tailored breastfeeding support for vulnerable populations is essential to closing the gap in breastfeeding rates and addressing social inequities. #linkedinnurses #breastfeedingweek #UNICEF #healthcare
