The Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS), is partnering with Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL), a major player in Nigeria's maritime sector to deliver a training session: “The Fundamentals of Law and Shipping.” This training, scheduled for September 17th and 18th, 2024, aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of key legal principles, covering topics from Carriage of Goods by Sea to Maritime Arbitration. The Nigerian Chamber of Shipping (NCS) represents a broad spectrum of stakeholders in Nigeria's maritime industry. This includes ship owners, tanker vessel operators, port/terminal operators, shipyard/dry dock owners, upstream and downstream service operators in the oil and gas sector, international maritime/shipping operators, maritime lawyers, and financial institutions. The NCS connects businesses with the government and other crucial players in the industry. To wrap up my activities for Apirl, I had the honour of speaking at the 63rd CVL Leadership Tribute Colloquim , a platform created by the erudite Professor Pat Utomi. It was quite an insightful meeting which offered me the opportunity to speaking with distinguished stakeholders in the transportation sector of the country. Professor Oddwunmi Samuel, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, GM LASWA, and Frank Kintum. I shared my concerns about the cost of ineffective Environmental Impact Assessment on our projects, the need for a transparent PPP, and fielded questions on the economic impact of our transportation system in view of AFCFTA, and in consideration of our strategic geographical location. I also had the privilege of sharing stage with distinguished experts at the Global Transportation Roundtable. Dr Alban Igwe, Ogochukwu Ugboma Ph.D., Dr. Obiora Madu and other erudite professionals. I do hope that the government agencies responsible leverage on the expertise available to improve on our transportation sector. Yesterday 23rd April 2024, I joined the list of hall of famers of the Women of Fortune Hall of Fame as I received the inspired amazon Award for my contributions towards the advancement of the Nigerian Maritime industry. The award recognises women who have inspired inclusion and diversity. I am quite honoured by the recognition because of the calibre of women who in the past have been recipients of these awards. The award means a lot to me because I am weary of awards and belive that every award must be meaningful and must be earned in view of the contributions the recipient or awardee has made in his/her field of endeavour. Thank you MMS Hall of Fame. It sure feels good to be appreciated and recognised for the good of impacting lives, and adding value to my industry. Most importantly I had the honour of receiving the award from an amazon in the industry Olufunmilayo Folorunso , whose contribution in the industry transcends the borders of Nigeria.
