Reflecting on some of the Global dynamics this week. As I prepare for an upcoming session in a couple of weeks, where I’ll have the honour, representing the honourable minster, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, in Imo state for an International Telecommunication Union sponsored event on Ict and artificial intelligence for young girls, I’ve been reflecting on the global shifts and mindsets that’s shaping our future. One recurring thoughts is the importance of building a resilient mindset in these young girls. In a field that’s traditionally dominated by men, it’s important they grow up feeling confident, capable and empowered, with no sense of inferiority. This week, global headlines made me think about the power of fair opportunities. And while there’s a lot that could be said about the roles of bias and diversity in decision making, what stands out most is the simple, lasting impact of nurturing resilience and self-belief. So, here are three key things I want to remind these young girls (and all of us) ✅ Believe in your voice:, because why not? Your ideas matter and it has the power to shape the future of technology. ✅ Know that challenges are stepping stones and let setbacks fuel your determination to succeed. ✅ Stay curious, keep learning new things especially in fields like AI and ICT, where growth is constant, and you know what that will do, it will keep you ahead of of the curve so make sure to dedicate time to learning. Today, we received the Director General of National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Dr. Matthew Adepoju, who visited NIGCOMSAT on a courtesy visit. NASRDA, as the primary body responsible for space research and development, drives innovation in satellite technology and space exploration, while NIGCOMSAT, as Nigeria’s satellite communications provider, operationalises these advancements by providing reliable satellite-based communication services. Maintaining a mutual relationship between the two entities is crucial for Nigeria’s advancement in space technology and telecommunications. A close collaboration between these two agencies enhances Nigeria’s capability to leverage satellite technology for socio-economic development, including areas like communication, agriculture, disaster management, and national security. Through mutual support, NASRDA and NIGCOMSAT can ensure efficient use of resources, avoid duplication of efforts, and drive innovation that meets Nigeria’s unique needs. This synergy is essential to achieving sustainable growth in the nation’s space and telecommunications sectors, strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global space industry, and supporting critical national infrastructure.
