Dengue, a mosquito-borne viral disease, continues to pose a serious public health threat. As the most common vector-borne viral infection, it significantly impacts tropical and subtropical countries. Over the past five years, dengue cases have surged, particularly in the Region of the Americas. In 2024, active dengue transmission has been reported in 90 countries, though not all cases are formally documented. As of April 30, 2024, the WHO reports over 7.6 million dengue cases, including 3.4 million confirmed cases, more than 16 000 severe cases, and over 3 000 deaths.
