In August, we held the 2024 PF Scholarship Assessment, an event designed to identify talented students eligible for scholarships. The selected scholars, from economically challenged backgrounds and chosen for their academic potential, are now being placed in partner schools, where they’ll embark on an educational journey free from financial barriers. At PISTIS Foundation, we are committed to bridging the gap for high-achieving students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Our mission is to ensure that financial limitations never hinder a student’s bright potential and future. By providing full scholarships and support, we aim to empower these students to thrive in environments that nurture both their academic and personal growth. For years, Ability lived with the pain and discomfort of a hernia that had affected him since his secondary school days. Despite the debilitating condition, he was unable to afford the necessary medical treatment due to financial constraints. During this time, a home nurse from a local chemist helped him manage his symptoms, encouraging him to seek a more permanent solution—surgery. When Ability’s sister told him about the 2024 Ubomi Medical and Surgical Outreach, a free healthcare initiative by PISTIS Foundation that brings essential medical services to underserved communities, he finally saw an opportunity to address his condition. Driven by hope and the possibility of regaining his quality of life, Ability travelled from his residence in Akure, Ondo State, to seek treatment in Lagos. After a medical evaluation, he was diagnosed and deemed a candidate for surgery. Thanks to the expert care and support from the Ubomi Outreach medical team, Ability underwent a successful surgery, marking the beginning of his recovery. We are pleased that Ability received the treatment he desperately needed and are hopeful for his full recovery. His journey serves as a reminder of the critical importance of accessible healthcare services and how initiatives like the Ubomi Medical and Surgical Outreach are making a profound difference in the lives of individuals across communities. At the 2024 Ubomi Medical and Surgical Outreach, we witnessed lives transformed and hope renewed. Lasisi Barakat, one of our beneficiaries, had been enduring the challenge of a swollen lip for years. She was told it was an allergy and tried various treatments, but nothing seemed to work. This condition deeply affected her confidence and kept her from engaging fully with others and living a normal life. Thanks to #Ubomi2024, Barakat was finally able to receive the specialized care she needed. After a successful surgery, she now has a renewed chance at a fulfilling life, free from the limitations she once faced. We are grateful to have been part of her journey toward recovery, and we look forward to seeing her embrace life with confidence, joy, and a bright future ahead. This is the heart of PISTIS Foundation's mission—providing support through our social intervention programs to those who need it most.
