https://lnkd.in/d-34rx84 What law is EFCC relying on to effect these arrests, did the visit the production site, do they know that government had issued over 400 #artisanal #mining licenses to artisanal miners, what makes an operation illegal, was the Federal miner's officer in Kwara consulted prior and after the arrests, has he confirmed that they are indeed illegal as he is the only legally empowered person to confirm the status according to minerals and mining Act 2007 and regulations of 2011, or? I will be among #nigerians that want our natural #endowments to work for the good order of our dear nation but will making arrest on the road, solve this problem? To prevent criminality, loss of income and flagrant abuse of our laws, the legal #miners must be supported as a proof of concept for artisanal to emulate, copy or understudy as the case may be. There is urgent need for multidimensional review of mineral wealth in the country, oil and gas ordinance as regarding states participation and control must apply in #solidminerals, the northern states can't be wishing to regulate while the southern states can't because of Federal reliance on #oilgas for national #socio-economic development of all states, where is the justice, equity and fairness???
