At State2State, we understand that lasting reforms are achieved when state partners take ownership and lead the process. To further this objective, State2State is convening a national conference in Abuja on May 8-9, 2024, bringing together members of the State Transformation Committees (STCs) from six states: Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Gombe, and Sokoto. The STCs play a vital role in ensuring the sustainability and institutionalization of State2State reforms. Effective two-way governance communication can build trust and promote citizens' participation in governance. 🗣️🤝     State2State supported the development of a Bauchi State Communication Strategy in 2022. The strategy provides an effective engagement framework with the public on the state’s policies, programs, and achievements.    From September 20-21, 2024, we reviewed progress in implementing the strategy.  Remarkably, the Ministry of Information and Communication has boosted vaccine uptake with jingles, posters, and local language materials. 🧩 State2State Gender & Social Inclusion (GESI) initiative is challenging systemic barriers, combating and providing essential support to marginalized groups. In Gombe State, our interventions have significantly improved #accessibility within government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). 🏛 Strengthening Fiscal Management in Gombe State. The recent #State2State workshop with local government executives has yielded positive results in strengthening fiscal management practices 🤝.     At the workshop on September 5-6, 2024, together with local government executives, we discussed best practices, identified and addressed reform gaps, and formally unveiled the State2State supported Local Government Budget Manual 📚. The guide will streamline budgeting and reporting processes, ensuring greater accountability and transparency.    By strengthening fiscal management, we're empowering Gombe State to achieve sustainable progress and improve public services 📊.    #publicfinance #localgovernment #GombeState  

In August, our team visited 21 projects across Bauchi, Misau, and Alkaleri LGAs, collaborating with ministries, departments and agencies, local government officials, civil society organizations, and community members. The goal? To track, document, and report on the progress and challenges of these crucial projects in Primary healthcare Basic education, and WASH. We saw incredible work being done, with communities expressing gratitude for our involvement. This is the first time they've had someone check whether the government is truly addressing their needs! The data gathered will contribute to a comprehensive midyear tracking report on the implementation of the Community Charter of Demand of citizens’ nominated projects. Sokoto State is taking a proactive approach to #transparency and #accountability by strengthening fiscal monitoring for effective governance. 📊👏     This commitment was reaffirmed during the 2025 budget consultation meeting, supported by State2State. After an intensive 8-month review process, Gombe State is ushering into a new era of governance with updated Public Service Rules and Financial Regulations! 💪 🎉    📄 Hajiya Rabi Jimeta, the Chairperson of the Review Committee and the Head of the state’s Civil Service Commission presented the report to the state governor, represented by Secretary to the State Government Professor Ibrahim Njodi, on July 2, 2024.    State2State supported the state with a series of consultative workshops and meetings and engaged civil society organizations to ensure the updated regulations aligned with #citizens’ needs. 👥 The Financial Regulations will enhance the state’s ability to manage resources, driving positive change in the health, education, and WASH sectors. 📈    #GovernmentReforms #State2State Photo 1/ ©periscopenga
