Save a mother’s life

About us

Theodora Anavhe Adamu Foundation (TAAF) is dedicated to transforming maternal healthcare in Nigeria. Our vision is a society where maternal and child lifespans are extended, where women thrive through pregnancy and childbirth, and where neonatal deaths are virtually absent. To achieve this vision, we introduce inclusive and innovative programs that promote safe motherhood practices to all stakeholders, driving awareness and advocacy for good maternal, newborn, and child health through top-level advocacy, training, and awareness campaigns. Our journey began with a tragic loss on December 17, 2012, when we lost our beloved sister, Theodora Anavhe Adamu, to complications from eclampsia during childbirth. Her passing left us devastated and searching for answers. The discovery that her medical records were missing highlighted the systemic issues plaguing healthcare systems, especially in low-income communities. Determined to prevent such tragedies from recurring, we founded TAAF to advocate for safe motherhood and health systems strengthening in Nigeria. Our mission is clear: to create a community where no woman dies while giving birth, where every woman remains healthy during pregnancy and childbirth, and where healthy children thrive under their care. At TAAF, our values guide every aspect of our work. We prioritize empathy, passion, confidence, innovation, and creativity in all our endeavors, ensuring that our beneficiaries receive the utmost care and support. Our projects encompass a range of initiatives, from digital solutions for maternal health to hygiene campaigns, child advocacy programs, and projects addressing gaps in policy and access to reproductive healthcare for women and girls in conflict zones. Through collaborative efforts and tireless dedication, we strive to empower maternal health, bridge gaps, and ensure every woman's journey to motherhood is safe and supported.
