Good People, Leaving the comfort of a banking career to embrace entrepreneurship wasn't a decision I took lightly. It wasn't about quick riches or external validation; it was about building something meaningful. From the launch of YouthUp Global in 2020 to the creation of Utidia and the Utidia Apprenticeship Institute (UAI), the journey has been challenging. There were moments of doubt, setbacks, and even a desire to give up. We're making a tangible difference, equipping the next generation of African talent with the skills needed to thrive in the future of work. We're bridging the gap between education and employment, giving young people access to global opportunities regardless of their background or location. Join us today for the UAI opening ceremony! Reviving the Igbo Spirit: Unlocking Potential with Modernized Apprenticeship! Before now, in Nigeria, especially the East, every young person had a profession to be proud of. The Igbo Apprenticeship System, an age-old skills development and incubation program, provided a pathway for every young person to learn a trade. Today, most young people are now okada riders (Motorcycle Commercial Riders), limiting their ability to unlock their hidden potentials. The desire to learn a trade or craft has died a natural death. But, as someone who has dedicated my time to research on the values of modernized apprenticeship programs in advanced economies towards addressing youth unemployment, I am happy to champion this cause. Introducing the Artisan Apprenticeship Program at Utidia Apprenticeship Institute (UAI): We're bringing back the tradition of craftsmanship and innovation through our revolutionary Artisan Apprenticeship Diploma Program. Come January, 2025, we will be admitting our first batch of candidates to enrol in our Artisan Apprenticeship Diploma Program which will pilot from the five cities in the south eastern part of Nigeria before we scale it to other parts of the country. Candidates will choose from a list of trades including: Phone/Laptop Repair, Furniture Making, Tailoring, Laundry & Drycleaning, Plumbing, Welding etc. The program will be both sponsored and self-funded for flexibility and to accommodate everyone wanting to enrol. We've started making contacts with stakeholders and partners to support this program either through direct funding or contacts with potential sponsors. To learn more about how to support this work, check here https://lnkd.in/dfRER9x7 To read about the program for self-funded candidates, visit here https://lnkd.in/dpxwuubp Also feel free to write to us directly at institute@utidia.com At UAI, we are determined to revolutionize apprenticeship education in Africa. Join us. #FaithNwaobia #Utidia #IgboApprenticeship #SkillsDevelopment #Artisan #Africa #UAI #EmpoweringYouth

Walking the Talk: From Dialogue to Action on Youth Unemployment in Africa! A couple of months ago, I had the opportunity to speak at News Central TV about the critical issue of youth unemployment in Africa. I emphasized the need to address the skills gap and create more opportunities for young people. But talk is cheap, right? I'm proud to say that at YouthUp Global and Utidia cum Utidia Apprenticeship Institute (UAI), we're not just talking, we're taking action. We're building a future where young Africans have the skills and opportunities they need to thrive. Why is this so important? Youth unemployment in Africa is a crisis. Statistics paint a bleak picture: ▪️Over 60% of Africa's youth are unemployed, with rates even higher in some countries. ▪️This translates to millions of young people struggling to find meaningful work, trapping them in poverty and limiting their potential. We cannot afford to let this continue. At YouthUp Global, we believe in a future where young Africans are empowered to build a better tomorrow. We're doing this by: ▪️Providing access to quality education through scholarships and financial assistance. ▪️Equipping young people with in-demand skills through practical training programs. ▪️Fostering social impact by empowering young entrepreneurs to launch impactful ventures. ▪️Preparing young Africans for the digital economy through training and connections with global companies. This isn't just about jobs, it's about building a better Africa. We're always looking for partners and collaborators to join us in this mission. If you're passionate about empowering young Africans and want to make a real difference, reach out to us at projects@youthupglobal.com. Together, we can create a brighter future for Africa's youth. #FaithNwaobia #youthunemployment #Africa #socialimpact #education #entrepreneurship #remotework #skillsgap #YouthUpGlobal #Utidia

Good People, It's now evident that the rise of remote work is truly changing the game for African human capital development! Gone are the days of limited opportunities within geographical boundaries. Today, talent from across the continent can connect with global opportunities, driving development and unlocking potential. Here's how remote work is impacting Africa: • Access to Global Markets: Remote roles open doors to international companies and projects, expanding skill sets and career paths. • Increased Employability: African professionals gain valuable experience, working with diverse teams and learning new technologies, boosting their competitiveness. • Economic Empowerment: Remote work contributes to a more inclusive economy, creating opportunities for individuals in underserved areas and fostering entrepreneurship. • Talent Mobility: Remote opportunities enable skilled professionals to relocate to areas with better living conditions, enhancing their quality of life. This is why I founded YouthUp Global. I saw firsthand how young people in developing countries needed to be empowered to access these opportunities opening up from remote work in advanced economies. Youthup Global, a not-for-profit social enterprise, is committed to addressing youth unemployment through human capital development, focusing on quality education and social entrepreneurship. While precise data on the number of young people working remotely in Africa is limited, the continent's rapidly growing tech sector and the global rise of remote work point to a clear trend. A 2022 report by Upwork states that 35.9% of the global workforce works remotely at least part-time. It's reasonable to assume Africa is following this trend, albeit at a slightly slower pace. Organizations like YouthUp Global through our subsidiary Utidia cum Utidia Apprenticeship Institute (UAI) are actively training young people in digital skills, which are crucial for remote work, indicating a growing demand for and supply of remote workers in Africa. The future of work is remote, and Africa is leading the charge. Let's embrace this shift and invest in building a future where talent thrives, regardless of location. Our mission is to empower 2 Million Africans to access global opportunities by 2030... Apprenticeship vs. Internship: Which Path is Right for You? Choosing the right training program can be a big decision. Two common options are apprenticeships and internships, but what's the difference? Apprenticeships: • Combine classroom learning and on-the-job training: Apprenticeships often blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, either through workplace attachments or project-based training. • Focus on practical skills: Apprenticeships are ideal for those who want to learn a trade or develop specific skills through a structured program. • No prior experience required: Apprenticeships are often open to individuals with limited or no formal training in their chosen field. Internships: • Focus on practical experience: Internships provide on-the-job training, often in a specific industry or company. • Require prior knowledge: Interns typically have a level of theoretical background knowledge and are looking to gain practical experience. The Best of Both Worlds: The Utidia Apprenticeship Institute (UAI) Advantage At the Utidia Apprenticeship Institute (UAI), we believe in combining the strengths of both apprenticeship and internship programs. Our 3-month Project-based Apprenticeship training program blends classroom training with practical application, providing a robust foundation for successful careers. But we go beyond simply combining programs. We offer a unique third element: Mentorship. At the UAI, you'll be guided by experienced professionals who provide personalized support, guidance, and industry connections, ensuring you have the tools and resources you need to succeed. Beyond the Program: Graduation and Internship Support Upon successful completion of the 3-month program, you'll graduate with an Apprenticeship Diploma, a valuable credential showcasing your newly acquired skills. We don't stop there. The UAI provides support to help you secure an internship, bridging the gap between your training and a full-fledged career in your chosen field. Ready to embark on your career journey with the UAI? The application window for our 3rd Cohort is closing soon!
