This is a great steps forward towards the much needed standardization of the market and a great validation for our current way of working. Looking back to a great week at Climate Week NYC with a broad spectrum of sessions and interesting one-one one meetings. A big thanks to Smart Freight Centre for hosting an intimate dinner with ~40 global book and claim experts. However, one event stood out. On Tuesday September 24th, I had the pleasure of attending the Green Day Market, organised at the office of J.P. Morgan and hosted by the Bezos Earth Fund, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) and Boston Consulting Group (BCG).  The keynote speech was given by John Podesta, previous White House Chief of Staff for Bill Clinton, counselor of Barack Obama and currently the Senior advisor to the President for International Climate Policy. During his keynote speech, he mentioned that: “One of the most important missing links across green commodities are book and claim systems.... we need to help connect the willing capital for green goods with the projects that are making them....book and claim systems can help solve this problem....and finally, this (book and claim) creates a straightforward way for corporations to directly impact their emissions and clean up their own operations." With the whole world looking at Science Based Targets initiative and Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) to take action on recognising the necessity of Book and Claim, it is a breath of fresh air to hear these hopeful words from the top US Climate diplomat, who spend roughly 30% of his keynote speech promoting the power of book and claim. At 123Carbon, the world first independent book and claim platform for multimodal transportation, we feel empowered by these words and hope that our partners (and especially cargo owners) will embrace book and claim as the most powerful instrument to decarbonise their supply chain.
