Recently, we welcomed our new colleague Jayde Kloet as Sales Representative EV-Charging at our AEP Hybrid Power division. For those who are not yet familiar with us: AEP Hybrid Power develops and manufactures customized energy storage systems and high-power converters.⚡ One of our most innovative and advanced solutions is our isolated DC-DC converters. But what are they used for, and how do they work? 💡 Spotlight: The Isolated DC-DC Converter An isolated DC-DC converter ensures safe and reliable energy transfer and is crucial for EV-charging, fuel cell, and electrolyzer systems. 🔍 What does an isolated DC-DC converter do? ✔ Converts direct current (DC) voltage to another DC voltage while controlling the output voltage and current in a regulated manner ✔ Isolation is achieved through a transformer, ensuring there is no direct electrical connection between the input and output ✔ Prevents interference, protects against high voltages, and enhances safety in IT grounding systems ⚡ Application Example: Battery Systems & Electric Vehicles (EVs) 🚗 The Challenge: EV batteries operate at high voltages (400V-800V). Due to grid congestion more sustainable solutions are emerging that typically work with fluctuating DC voltages, which may not match the required vehicle battery voltage. 🔧 The Solution: Isolated DC-DC converters ensure that the correct voltage and current are supplied to the vehicle for battery 🔋charging. Additionally, isolation ensures safe voltage conversion, preventing any direct electrical connection between the input, output, or ground. Whether you’re working on battery solutions, grid infrastructures, or high-tech medical equipment, an isolated DC-DC converter can be the key to a reliable and efficient energy solution. AEP Hybrid Power now offers isolated converters with power ratings of 6kW, 120kW, and even 300kW.
