We are excited to announce the successful launch of motor yacht Ursus today, a remarkable project that we’ve had the privilege to work on together naval architect Mulder Design. This yacht, originally measuring 23.9 meters, has undergone a complete transformation, now extending to 30.5 meters with a range of upgrades. After completing the design and engineering, Ursus underwent an extensive 18-month rebuild at Balk Shipyard. The bow and stern were replaced to add space, the tender garage was relocated to create a new seating area, and a twin anchor system along with an additional crew cabin was added. The decks were upgraded with FSC-certified teak, and the hull was repainted in Batumi Gold. Technical upgrades included new diesel-electric pods, a seawater cooling system, and Veth Azimut drives. While the Volvo Penta D9 engines and Stamford generators were retained, the extended hull required an adjusted setup. Additional enhancements include a Veth bow thruster, Furuno navigation systems, a dynamic positioning system, and wing stations for precise handling. Ursus is now ready for sea trials, which will take place in the upcoming weeks. Balk Shipyard will deliver the yacht to its owner this February.
