One of @bg One of BG Freight Line new feeder ships #BGRed made her maiden visit to DP World #Southampton over the weekend. The 170m long ship is one in a class of four 1380TEU ships all with names to reflect their striking colours with all four being constructed at the Penglai Jinglu shipyard in China. The new environmentally friendly ships are able to burn biomethanol fuel, in addition to using an early form of onboard carbon capture. The BG Red is deployed on a service linking North Europe with Ireland. We’re thrilled to welcome the BG RED to Cork Container Terminal, one of four new state-of-the-art lo-lo vessels operated by BG Freight Line. 🚢 These innovative ships will help BG Freight Line customers to significantly reduce carbon emissions. Equipped with advanced scrubbers to capture CO2 and sulphur particles, increased cargo capacity, and the ability to handle biomethanol, allowing them to be powered by this sustainable fuel source. Named for their vibrant colours - BG Red, BG Green, BG Blue, and BG Orange - these 170m long vessels can carry up to 1,380 containers. Met dit schip wordt de capaciteit op deze shortseaverbinding vergroot van 804 naar 1002 TEU. Naast meer capaciteit zorgt het ook voor een duurzamere connectie.
