Brekr is back on track! 🚀 Wow, we have some amazing news: Brekr is back on the road! Just over two weeks ago, we had to file for bankruptcy—one of the hardest decisions we've ever made. What followed was an emotional rollercoaster. After seven years of building Brekr—from the first idea to where we are now—there was only one thing we wanted: for it to continue. But just like a rollercoaster, you’re not in control. Which company would take over? Would they see what we see? Would they believe in what makes Brekr, Brekr? The answer is: YES! Ecomotion, the company behind QWIC and AGU, is taking over Brekr and fully believes in our mission. It’s still early days, but it feels incredibly right. With a strong partner like Ecomotion, Brekr can not only continue but truly grow and flourish. Your messages, calls, texts, and even gifts have lifted us up and kept us going. Ouch—this hurts. Yesterday, Brekr filed for bankruptcy. In 2018, we set out on a mission: to build beautiful, electric two-wheelers with a bold, unmistakable design—something that truly resonates with people. And in that mission, we succeeded. Over the past seven years, Brekr has won prestigious design awards (Dutch Design Week, Red Dot, iF Award), built a network of nearly 100 dealers across Europe, sparked vibrant Brekr communities, and—most importantly—put smiles on the faces of thousands of Brekr-riders (we call them brekkers). Did we do everything right? No. If we had, we wouldn’t be here today. But we also faced major setbacks. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed our launch by four months, and later, supply shortages left us unable to deliver for eight months. More disruptions followed. The Red Sea crisis hit our supply chain hard, preventing us from producing enough bikes during last year’s peak season—despite strong demand. We even had to pause dealer expansion. Now, eight months later, that impact still stings. And then there’s the fatbike debate in the Netherlands. We built an award-winning, innovative, fully legal bike, yet we find ourselves caught in the crossfire. Despite fighting hard to prevent this outcome, for our suppliers, partners, customers, and the vision our investors believed in, we now face a tough reality. And we deeply regret it. But is this the end? As far as we’re concerned; no. We believe in our bikes. We believe in our people. And more than anything, we want to move forward. Because all Brekkers - current and future - deserve that.

Ensuring Safe and Legal E-bikes for Everyone Recent news about criminal investigations into illegal fatbike sales highlights a critical issue in the e-bike market. At Brekr, we’re proud that our F250 is a 100% legal product, fully compliant with all Dutch and European regulations. Through Veilige-fatbikes.nl, (‘Safe fatbikes’) we have long advocated for safety and regulation in the e-bike industry. The fatbike, by design, is actually a safe e-bike, thanks to its wide tires and low center of gravity – when built according to the rules. It’s good to see that illegal brands are being addressed, and we hope this action extends across Europe to prevent other countries from facing the same problems we've seen in the Netherlands.
