Interesting to note that of the four submitted charts, all use the classifications “Low Latency” and “Ultra Low Latency” while only two use “Sub-Second,” and with three of the four also using “Real-Time.” For #LowLatency, three charts group closely with 4-10 sec, 3-12 sec, and 2-10 sec, while one of the charts applies something a bit different at 500 ms-2 sec. For #UltraLowLatency, it varies a bit more with 1-4 sec, 1-3 sec, and 500ms-2 sec, with the outlier plotting at 200ms-500ms. Of the two that have a #SubSecond classification, the latency is plotted at 200ms-1sec and 500ms-1 sec. #RealTime, being the fastest, is classified by three of the four and all plot quite closely to each other with: up to 500ms, 200ms, and 150ms-500ms. Also of note is that most recognize WebRTC being the absolute fastest (as WebRTC experts, Ceeblue agrees).  Just wait and see what the market makes of #WebRTS which we announced at IBC - International Broadcasting Convention bringing all the benefits of segmented technology (with #DRM and #AdInsertion capability) with latencies similar to WebRTC. We are assuming all of these charts represent End-to-End measurements (as we do with our transcoding, which is included in the measurement), given that a lot of the charts are in reasonable alignment. At Ceeblue we’ve put a lot of thought into this issue of low latency definitions, as we co-chair the CDN Alliance Low-Latency Working Group, which has as one of its goals to standardize these terms.
