I think all FPGA engineers should have to work with a old PLD at least once. Modern tools can give amazing abstraction and definitely are to be fully exploited but an awareness of the real technological building blocks is still relevant when optimizing designs. I wonder if a programmer still exists for the EP1210? And before anyone nags that the UV erase windows should be closed, I’ve pealed off the paper stickers to make them look pretty.
