September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month, a time to honor the strength and resilience of those living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). At Cerus, we’re committed to ensuring blood safety and availability for all patients. Many individuals with SCD rely on regular blood transfusions, but finding compatible blood can be challenging – especially for those from minority backgrounds. This is why a diverse blood donor population is critical. Throughout September, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is offering valuable resources and weekly newsletters to support patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers in managing SCD.
