Why this will happen, in a nutshell: 👉 Electronic devices are often made using critical raw materials, that need to be recovered as much as possible. 👉 Though very helpful in our daily lives, electronic devices and products have substantial environmental footprints. Digital Product Passports contribute to communicating these impacts and creating about them. 👉 European legislation will demand any company putting electronic devices on the market from 2027 onwards to connect these products to Digital Product Passports. And all these benefits are automatically translated to KPI's by Cirmar. 👉 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 Digital Product Passports allow you to share product information transparantly. There are however cases in which you might not want to share the 'secret of the chef'. Cirmar will be attending and participating in the Circular Plastics Conference 2024 on the 26th of September, a collaboration of CPI - Circular Plastics Initiative and COAST - Analytical Science and Technology. 👉 Frans will take part in the roundtable discussion, where he will dive into the value chain of circular plastics. He will also moderate the breakout session in which the topic of circular plastics will be discussed in relation to the WEEE regulation. ♻️ 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 The European Commission officialy published the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) today. That means it is now applicable to all products that enter the European market, and that's a win for the Circular Economy. Explain your enthusiasm please! 👉 Digital Product Passports (DPPs) are going to be mandatory, starting with the first product groups from 2027 onwards. Cirmar users have taken a head start to this development, and we're happy that others will be introduced to this technology. 👉 Mandatory DPPs are one way to improve the sustainability of products on the European market, but only if it leads to better design choices. The ESPR requires producers to incorporate better design and use materials that are fit for reuse: a crucial development in our quest to preserve quality and value of materials. 👉 The ESPR describes environmental impacts as a mandatory aspect of DPPs. We believe this is essential if we as consumers want to be able to make better, sustainable choices. Calculating impacts has been a challenge for companies, which is why Cirmar's C_passport® automatically calculates the environmental impact of products. The main objective is: 𝘼𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝙨𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨. Now you might wonder: how are we ever going to make that happen? It might seem like a daunting task, but C_passport® makes life a whole lot easier: 👉 We are connected to international materials databases, which you can use to record and visualise material composition. 👉 Creating C_passports® means directly calculating the environmental impact of products, no need for expensive, time-consuming LCA's. 👉 Hundreds or thousands of products in your catalogue?
