Next week, we are gathering with partners, industry experts, and supporters of our vision for a live runway test and demo of our retrofit technology! We will be showcasing our electric retrofit kit on the Cessna F150 aircraft and demonstrating the technical capabilities of our solution. We're eager to show how much quieter the kit is compared to the original F150 engine, so we will be conducting a side-by-side comparison. We're excited to be hosting this event in partnership with NXP Semiconductors, Kempen Airport, and Falcon Electric Aviation, all of whom are contributing to our progress towards our vision of clear skies through electric regional air mobility. #live #startuplaunch #demoday #partnerships #electricaviation Kshitij Dadhekar Kyle Strickland

Well, what do you know? The much-touted Airbus hydrogen-powered aircraft won't actually be taking to the skies in 2035 after all. The Financial Times reports that French labour unions have been told it's been pushed back by "five to ten years." So let's call it 2045... or maybe even later. Here's the thing - I've wondered for a while if much of the industry even wants this. It's not just about making the plane work (which is challenging enough) - you need to build an entirely new ecosystem from scratch. New storage facilities, new supply chains, the works. In terms of size, an airport's storage requirements could equal those of a new terminal (link in the comments). That's a significant outlay of cash, in addition to, of course, developing the aircraft themselves. Airbus's own CEO Guillaume Faury is now acknowledging the obvious: "it's not enough to have a plane if you have no infrastructure, no hydrogen in the right place, at the right time, at the right quantity and the right price." Meanwhile, traditional aircraft manufacturers are sitting on a decade-plus backlog of orders. And let's be honest - which aircraft owner wants to risk being stuck with potentially obsolete technology come the 2040s? Does hydrogen have a future in aviation? Sure, particularly in e-fuels, especially if Green H2 costs can be brought down. The work being done in white hydrogen is interesting in this regard. However, for actual propulsion systems, electric power may be the one that wins out for shorter routes, mainly because the infrastructure hurdles are significantly lower, and the path of least resistance usually wins out. Throughout the previous year, we worked tirelessly to get one step closer to #sustainable #electric #aviation with our electric Cessna Aircraft Company F150 🔋🛩️ - a plane widely used for pilot training and recreational flying. In December 2024, Clearwings and Falcon Electric Aviation conducted the first ever taxiing tests of the plane with a 100% battery-electric powertrain. The video also portrays effective noise reduction achieved with motors as compared to an internal combustion engine for #CTOL planes. Special thanks to Kempen Airport for all their support. We are proud to share another amazing article covering Clearwings plan in great detail. Jim Heirbaut details our differentiating features magnificently and discusses the potential for our impact on regional air mobility in Europe and beyond.

The progress continues with the installation of the wing-based battery units!
Installing the batteries in the #Clearwings of our Cessna F150 🛩️ airplane. Each fuel tank of the airplane has a weight of about 35-40 kgs (13 US GAL/ 49 Litres), which are now replaced by battery modules 🔋 from Clearwings Electric Aviation. For our third recent funding announcement, we’re extremely excited to announce our biggest win so far at Clearwings Electric Aviation. We have been granted a Temporary Subsidy Scheme for Aviation in Transition (LIT) from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO)! This subsidy is especially focused on driving change in aviation, and our award goes towards developing a feasibility study for battery-electric retrofitting of twin-engine aircraft that could carry as many as nine passengers. This could lay the groundwork for future (sustainable) airlines (like the ones we have partnered with) to offer electric regional air mobility (eRAM). A feasibility study like this is a concrete work product that maps out the technical and economic elements of an innovation project, and the LIT focuses within the aviation sector. This subsidy is run by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, a division of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. We want to thank the RVO again for their approval of our proposal! Today, our co-founder Kyle Strickland is speaking on a panel at Austin Tech Week to discuss impact-driven startups and how we can continue to build a brighter future around the world with more sustainable solutions like those being developed by Clearwings. Tune in for more from that session later this week! #AustinTechWeek #impactdriven #startups #electricaviation #majorwins Kempen Airport EVIA AERO GmbH
