🚀 Enhancing Protein Stability with Amino Acids and the #CrystalBreeder🌟 We are excited to share the application of #CrystalBreeder in a recent research work on "Amino Acids Stabilizing Effect on Protein and Colloidal Dispersions". In this study, researchers discovered that #AminoAcids (AAs) possess a broad colloidal stabilizing property, effective across various #proteins, plasmid DNA, and even non-biological nanoparticles. The CrystalBreeder was instrumental in measuring the cloud point of #lysozyme solutions demonstrating the ability of AAs to alter the cloud point by up to 4 K. In the CrystalBreeder instrument, samples were equilibrated at 42 °C for 10 minutes, then cooled at 0.2 °C/min under nitrogen flow to prevent oxidation. The cloud point temperature was recorded at 70% transmissivity loss. 🔬 Key insights from the research: ➡ Charge Interactions: Charged AAs #stabilize proteins of opposite charge. ➡Peptide Efficiency: Short #peptides are as effective as individual AAs. ➡Surface Solvation: Small molecules enhancing surface solvation can stabilize colloids. The data indicate that higher intracellular concentrations of amino acids and peptides will impact all protein-protein interactions. 🚀 Surfactant research using Crystal16 🌟 We are excited to share a recent publication titled "The Interfacial Properties of Biosurfactant Mixtures" in the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents by The Dow Chemical Company, highlighting the application of #Crystal16 for surfactant studies. The research team explored the impact of sophorolipid biosurfactants on the cloud point of alcohol ethoxylates and their effect on #surface tension and #foaming in alkyl sulfate/amine-oxide mixtures. The study explored the impact of biosurfactants on the performance of traditional surfactants. 🔬 Key Highlights: ➡ Enhanced Cloud Points: Certain biosurfactants were found to increase the cloud point of alcohol ethoxylates, improving their efficiency. ➡Stable Mixtures: High-acid and high-lactone sophorolipids can replace up to 50% of primary surfactants without affecting surface tension or foaming performance. These findings pave the way for developing more sustainable and high-performing cleaning products. 🔬 Automation with the Crystal16 and Crystalline instruments 🚀   We are thrilled to spotlight a recent study done by a research team at Eli Lilly on the “Use of automation, dynamic image analysis, and process analytical technologies to enable data rich particle engineering efforts at the Drug Substance / Drug Product interface: A case study using Lovastatin”. 🚀 Evaporative crystallization with Crystalline 🌟 In this research paper published in the Chemical Engineering & Technology, titled "A Comprehensive Workflow towards More Equant-Shaped Crystals of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients", our #Crystalline instrument was used to develop the workflow that controls crystal morphology. Controlling the morphology of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) is crucial as it significantly affects their properties during manufacturing. In this research work, a knowledge-based workflow was developed to identify optimal process conditions for producing more equant-shaped crystals. The Crystalline instrument was used for performing controlled evaporative crystallization. The research findings in this paper contribute to advancing pharmaceutical research and development by providing a reliable approach to optimizing crystal morphology at small-scale.
