Six months ago, AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) was a 2032 problem. Today? The prediction has been pulled forward to 2027, or sooner if you believe Musk. ➡️ With DeepSeek R1, OpenAI’s o3, and the latest self-improving AI models, researchers are no longer asking if AI will surpass humans in reasoning, coding, and science, it is a question of wen. In the past years, AI has leapfrogged through intelligence levels: 👉 Two years ago: High school-level AI. 👉 Last year: Undergrad-level. 👉 Today: PhD-level reasoning, outperforming experts in specialized fields. 👉 Next? Superintelligence; an AI so powerful it will design the next AI itself. ➡️ These advances aren’t just incremental. AI is now writing, improving, and self-optimizing its own code. The top 175 programmers in the world are still human, for now. But soon, AI will surpass them. ❓ We may have 1-5 years before AI hits escape velocity and remakes civilization in ways we can’t predict. What’s our next move? What’s yours? In a world where AI aces PhD exams and outperforms experts, researchers have one last defense: creating a test so diabolically difficult that no AI can pass it. ➡️ 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺 was designed to do just that. Until, inevitably, AI catches up and we have to move the goalposts again. ➡️ This brutal test, crafted by elite academics, throws 3,000 mind-bending questions at AI, spanning everything from rocket science to hummingbird anatomy. 👉 AI bombed it; OpenAI’s o1 model led with a mere 8.3%. 👉 The game won’t last as experts predict AI will surpass 50% by year’s end. 👉 Beyond exams, AI’s real test will be solving problems we can’t, like math theorems and scientific discoveries. ❓ AI will eventually surpass human intelligence, that is inevitable as I believe there is no upper limit to intelligence. The question, therefore, is how will we manage unlimited intelligence with a limited brain? AI and crypto are teaming up to kick traditional commerce to the curb, promising a decentralized future where goods move seamlessly across global markets, without centralized gatekeepers. ➡️ Agentic Commerce will democratize trade, but let’s be honest: this is also about cutting out the middleman and making AI the new kingpin. ➡️ AI agents are soon going to make all the deals: matching buyers and sellers, automating transactions with smart contracts, and eliminating the friction that keeps e-commerce in silos. 👉 Smart AI agents scrape, aggregate, and match supply and demand. 👉 Crypto protocols ensure trustless transactions without intermediaries. ❓ Will AI and blockchain liberate global trade or just replace old monopolies with new ones? If data is power, then AI-powered commerce agents are poised to own the flow of goods. Would you trust an AI to run global trade? Sam Altman: “How Dare You Copy Our Copying Machine?” 🤣 ➡️ In the grand tradition of irony, OpenAI is accusing China’s DeepSeek of “distilling” ChatGPT. Essentially using OpenAI’s outputs to train its own model. ➡️ This is the same OpenAI that once hoovered up half the internet without asking, now crying foul because someone else might have done the same to them. This is clearly a case of the pot calling the kettle black. ➡️ If OpenAI succeeds in blocking “distillation,” does that mean only the first pirate gets the treasure? Or are we just watching AI capitalism eat itself? What’s next—an LLM arms race over who stole what first? ❓ Would you bet on regulation, litigation, or acceleration in AI’s future? DeepSeek, China’s open-source AI disruptor, has shattered expectations, proving that efficiency can trump brute-force compute. Now, the real question: can China replicate this success, or will geopolitical headwinds and restricted innovation hold it back? ➡️ China’s AI ambitions hinge on open ecosystems and rapid iteration. DeepSeek’s low-cost, high-performance model challenges the U.S. approach of building ever-larger AI clusters. ➡️ But for China to maintain momentum, it must balance state-driven funding with research transparency. Meanwhile, the U.S. scrambles and President Trump has already signaled tighter export restrictions, fearing another DeepSeek-style breakthrough. ❓ China’s AI future will be defined by agility over isolation. Will it embrace an open innovation model, or will political tensions stifle its next great disruptor? Sam Altman in 2023: "It's totally hopeless to compete with us" 🙃 When asked by an Indian investor how could an Indian team build something substantial with $10 million. Fast forward to 2025, DeepSeek spent $5.6 million, outcompete OpenAI, and did this as a side project. What if the next breakthrough battery, semiconductor, or carbon-capturing material could be designed rather than discovered? That’s exactly what MatterGen, a generative AI model for materials design, is doing, replacing tedious trial-and-error with direct innovation. ➡️ Instead of screening millions of known materials, MatterGen creates new ones from scratch, optimizing for desired properties like strength, conductivity, or magnetism. ➡️ Its diffusion-based AI model, trained on over 600,000 stable materials, refines atomic structures like an artist sculpting matter at the nanoscale. Unlike traditional approaches, MatterGen predicts how stable and viable a new material will be—before a single real-world test is conducted. 👉 AI-driven material design replaces brute-force discovery 👉 Generated materials are twice as stable and ten times closer to ideal structures 👉 First AI-designed material successfully synthesized in a lab with 20% error margin ❓ As AI reshapes drug discovery, MatterGen is set to revolutionize batteries, fuel cells, and superconductors. The question now: Are we ready for a world where AI doesn’t just analyze nature, but invents it? Is China’s AI industry out-innovating the West by being more transparent and efficient? The answer may surprise you. ➡️ China’s AI sector is rapidly narrowing the gap with the US, thanks to breakthroughs from firms like DeepSeek and Alibaba. DeepSeek’s v3 LLM, with 685 billion parameters, rivals leading Western models like OpenAI’s o1 but operates at a fraction of the cost due to algorithmic efficiencies. ➡️ Unlike the closed approaches of US firms, Chinese companies openly share their innovations, fostering a vibrant ecosystem that attracts top talent. Models like Alibaba’s Qwen openly publish their reasoning processes, standing in stark contrast to the secretive nature of Western AI labs. ❓ While US firms still lead in areas like integration and user-facing applications, China’s focus on cost-effective, open AI is reshaping the competitive landscape. Can Western AI firms maintain their dominance without adopting more open and efficient strategies? Or did open-source just win?
