🎯 Thrilled to share that we kicked off the #systeminnovation process for the P4ELECS Centers of Vocational Excellence (#COVEs) at our WP8 workshop “Five Skills Ecosystems in Europe. Context and challenges”, introduced by Elena Gentilini from project partner Progetto Arcadia and facilitated by Sara Featherston and Iggy Love this week in Genk. 💡 Key experts from the Belgian ecosystem Jeroen Franssen (Agoria), Frederik Loeckx (Flux50 ), David van der Meijden (T2-campus), Wouter Wissink (Volta) & Annick Dexters (EnergyVille) - with experience in bridging gaps between research, education and industry - highlighted the increased fragmentation and uncertainty of knowledge & innovation linked to our #energytransition, and also the urgent need to motivate learners and workers to train & re-train, and to provide an encompassing and positive vision for the energy transition. 🛎 This calls for a better and less competitive coordination and collaboration among sectors and disciplines ❗ 🤝 Project partners from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Latvia and The Netherlands also looked together at the current relations between research, education, innovation and employment to identify challenges and gaps in order to foster cooperation between public and private stakeholders to develop #skillsecosystems and address common challenges through a systemic lens. Nu duurzame energieoplossingen steeds belangrijker worden, staat de vraag centraal hoe we het meest efficiënt kunnen omgaan met onze energie. Een van de technieken die hier een belangrijke bijdrage aan zou kunnen leveren, is gelijkspanning. Laurens Mackay, oprichter van DC Opportunities, houdt zich bezig met het implementeren en optimaliseren van gelijkspanningstechnologie. Hij legt aan Solar365 uit waarom gelijkspanning nu in de meeste toepassingen veel logischer zou zijn en hoe dit zou helpen bij het oplossen van netcongestie. Wisselspanning is ooit gekozen voor het aanleggen van stroomnetten omdat hoge spanning noodzakelijk was voor het transporteren van stroom over lange afstanden. "De keuze voor wisselspanning werd destijds gemaakt omdat er toen nog geen vermogenselektronica bestond om gelijkspanning effectief te transformeren. Nikola Tesla introduceerde wisselspanningssystemen, waarbij het mogelijk werd om met een transformator de spanning eenvoudig te verhogen of te verlagen. Dit was cruciaal voor het efficiënt transporteren van elektriciteit over lange afstanden. In die tijd was het een baanbrekende beslissing, omdat wisselspanning de noodzaak voor complexe en onderhoudsgevoelige systemen met bewegende delen elimineerde", legt Mackay uit.
