📣 Due to low water levels of Lake Ontario and St Lawrence River, schedules, delivery times and charges are affected. Multiple carriers have already introduced Low Water Surcharge (LWS) and now also Maersk Line will implement this temporary surcharge. Maersks LWS will be applicable for shipments into Canada from departure date 1 December 2024 and the amount for a 40ft HC reefer container will be $300. 𝙇𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙒𝙚𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖 𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘿𝙪𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙛𝙪𝙣 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩! 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙧𝙖 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝘾𝘼𝙉 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙙 𝘿𝙪𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙨 When an import container is selected for scan, Dutch customs currently sends out the notification at least 72 hours in advance. Dutch customs has announced to have another pilot for a shorter notice period of 24 hours still this year. Changing from 72 to 24 hours is mainly intended to minimize the chance of people obtaining prohibited cargo beforehand. At this time, about 20-25% of the import containers we handle in Rotterdam are selected for scan. The announced pilot is likely to cause challenges for the planning of the truck transport and we expect additional charges for late cancellations or futile trips. De Transportation Security Administration (TSA) vraagt per direct extra gegevens voor luchtvracht naar de Verenigde Staten vanuit Europa. Soortgelijke maatregelen zijn inmiddels ook genomen door Canada en Australië. Dit doet de TSA in reactie op twee luchtvrachtpakketten met daarin brandbommen. ACN Air Cargo Netherlands en Transport en Logistiek Nederland zijn - samen met onze internationale koepelorganisaties - in overleg met Nederlandse en Amerikaanse autoriteiten, om de administratieve lasten voor het bedrijfsleven zo behapbaar mogelijk te maken.
