Earlier this week, our NLP Engineer Shanshan Xu traveled to Bangkok to present her research at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics.   The research paper is titled ‘Exploring Disagreement, Difficulty and Calibration in Legal Case Outcome Classification’ and features the first systematic exploration of calibration to human judgements in legal NLP.   The paper was written together with Santosh T.Y.S.S, Oana Ichim, Barbara Plank, and Matthias Grabmair.   Congratulations to Shanshan and the whole team. It is truly inspiring to see the progress being made in this dynamic area. This week, we participated in the Hogan Lovells Germany AI Summit in Munich, where over 100 people gathered to discuss AI Governance, Ethics, and Law.   Our Co-CEO Sebastian Lach took part in a panel discussion alongside Vanessa Cann, Dr. Barbara Holzer, Franziska Janorschke, Dr. Axel Kessler, LL.M., Sarah Zech and Stefan Schuppert.
