Co-Owner & Partner @ Endeit Capital | Growth Capital Investor in Future of Work / AI

Humans are tool builders and AI is at the (very) early stages of our new tool. Today, our 3rd AI Innovation trip in the US started! What began as an idea between Remy Gieling and me to bridge AI knowledge between European entrepreneurs and US AI leaders, became a unique yearly returning event co-organized with Martijn Kole & Job van den Berg. In this week-long journey in Austin and SF with 20 tech entrepreneurs from NL/DE we will exchange views and ideas about innovation and the future perspective of AI & Quantum. We will be meeting AI experts at Universities and at companies like Miro, Strangeworks, AMD, Oracle, WholeFoods/Amazon, NVIDIA, Databricks, Salesforce, Cohere, Lucid Motors, Cloudfare, You.com and so on. Today we kicked off with a visit at the The University of Texas at Austin, where we met with Erin Reilly, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Immersive Institute. Her team created the AI character Camp Cura to help young adults communicate their chronic disease by socially and emotionally connecting with a Virtual AI Being as a friend. Next we spoke with Brittney Black, Head of Platform Meta on AI & Entertainment - who gave us an update on the latest AR/VR developments with the Orion glasses, from gaming enthusiasts to mobile first events. Orion combines the look and feel of a regular pair of glasses with the immersive capabilities of augmented reality. In the spirit of entertainment and tech, Hugh Forrest Co-President of tech/music conference SXSW gave us an update on the 2025 themes: Human Creativity, Leadership, Sustainability, Start-ups, Immersive/XR, AI Everywhere and F2F the power of meeting each other. Professor Junfeng Jiao - updated us on his Austin Ethical AI projects and last but not least Mitch Pryor presented his latest advancements on Robotics and AI to improve situational awareness and human-robot interaction. Next stop was at the visual ‘Future of Work’ collaboration firm Miro where we were presented by Tomás Dostal Freire showing the impressive transformation to an AI-first integrated company assisting their 60 million user-base in innovation and collaboration processes. We finished the day with a fun and very insightful pitch from internet legend William Hurley ("Whurley"), founder of Strangeworks, pioneering with the accessibility of quantum computing by integrating it with large language models. By leveraging LLMs, they enable users to interact with quantum systems through natural language, making complex quantum computations more intuitive and accessible. Key points included the challenges of quantum computing's cold start problem and the need for user-friendly interfaces. As a closing present we received Whurley’s newest book Quantum Computing for Dummies, ... and Babies. My quant career is about to start.

What is the biggest hurdle for scale-ups today? Scaling a company is exciting and complex. While growth offers new opportunities, it also introduces hurdles that can make or break a scale-up’s success. The 2023 State of European Tech report highlights that talent shortages, operational inefficiencies, and competition in global markets are significant hurdles for companies trying to grow beyond their initial stages. The ability to build sustainable and scalable processes is becoming crucial as scale-ups aim to maintain their momentum and remain competitive in a fast-paced market. In your opinion, what’s the toughest challenge scale-ups need to overcome? Vote and share your thoughts in the comments.👇

Our partner, Martijn Hamann, is returning to the USA for another exciting AI expedition in a few days. He’ll meet key innovators and explore AI developments that are shaping the future together with European entrepreneurs. Last year, Martijn visited industry leaders like OpenAI, LinkedIn, and NVIDIA to gain insights into how these companies tackle the big challenges in AI. 💡 At NVIDIA, for example, Martijn learned how they focus on solving society’s toughest technical problems, developing specialized workflows that their clients can further commercialize. As he revisits NVIDIA this year, we’re curious—what new breakthroughs will have emerged? 🤔 In addition to NVIDIA, Martijn will visit other cutting-edge companies pushing AI innovation's boundaries, such as Tesla, Databricks, and Salesforce. Want to follow Martijn’s journey? Make sure to follow his LinkedIn account for live updates on his meetings and discoveries. The picture of Martijn and Jensen Huang (CEO and founder of NVIDIA) was taken last year.

From entrepreneur to entrepreneur: insights from the frontlines👇 At Endeit, we’re not just working for entrepreneurs; we’re fortunate to have some exceptional entrepreneurs working with us. As part of an ongoing series, we ask our Venture Partners—seasoned founders and investors—to share the advice that has shaped their journey. Today, we hear from Jonne de Leeuw: "Life’s too short to work with or for difficult people. Remember that when you find yourself being difficult…" It’s a lesson he’s learned firsthand. Success often comes down to the relationships we build, and keeping them positive and productive is key. It’s not just about choosing who you work with but also taking a step back and asking yourself if you’re making things easier or harder for those around you. Since joining Endeit in April 2023, Jonne has been focused on fintech investments and serves on the boards of Floryn, Virtuagym, and Cevinio. Stay tuned for more insights from our partners and entrepreneurs in this series. #Entrepreneurship #VenturePartner

Last week,  we hosted our annual Endeit Fellows dinner at the beautiful Pillows Grand Boutique Hotel Maurits at the Park 🍽️.   We were fortunate to welcome renowned journalist Charles GROENHUIJSEN as our keynote speaker. With over 40 years of experience in American politics 🇺🇸, including his time as a Washington D.C. correspondent, Charles shared compelling insights into the current U.S. political landscape. His analysis sparked meaningful discussions on the global economy, its ripple effects on the Netherlands, and broader geopolitical shifts.   Interesting fact; The New York Times reported in February 2021 that: "Since president Roosevelt (1933), the economy has grown at an annual average rate of 4.6 percent under Democratic presidents and 2.4 percent under Republicans.📈.    The elections are about dogs and cats, but we stick to the facts.    The evening was a success, filled with engaging conversations and fresh perspectives ✨.   #EndeitFellows #VenturePartners #EndeitCapital

This summer, our colleague Sophie Dürr organized an exclusive 4-day retreat in Tuscany, Italy. The retreat brought eight female VCs together, representing different fund stages—from pre-seed to Series C—and sectors like deep tech, B2B SaaS, generalist, and climate tech. The retreat focused on women's critical role in VC, reinforcing why diversity is a core value at Endeit Capital. Here is a quick recap from Sophie: “The Investors who joined came mainly from the Nordic ecosystem—Berlin, Helsinki, Stockholm, Denmark, and London—dedicating time to learning from each other and discussing topics critical to our work. We wanted to build relationships that go beyond Zoom calls, getting to know each other on a deeper level by cooking dinner together and even sharing rooms.  What made this special was that most of us had never met, or if so, only briefly over Zoom. It took a lot of openness and boldness from everyone to join, not really knowing what to expect—it could have easily gone sideways. Between enjoying incredible Italian food, we held structured knowledge-sharing sessions on deal sourcing, board participation, term sheet strategies, and forming market hypotheses—topics we were all curious to learn from each other. Mornings kicked off with yoga, and we explored the nearby city of Lucca, blending learning with downtime. Here are my top 3 high-level takeaways from the trip: 📍Structure your approach to networking with other funds by prioritizing them based on the value you can add and vice versa. 🗣️ As a woman in VC, pick your area of expertise and speak up confidently. Stop questioning your capabilities—go for it. 📖 Educate yourself on markets as it demonstrates a commitment to founders and helps you build deeper personal and professional connections, adding real value as a fund. Overall, I’m genuinely impressed with how well this retreat turned out, primarily thanks to such a fantastic group of women. Despite a few setbacks—like losing my luggage on the way to Tuscany or getting stuck on a hill with the car—the sense of community only grew stronger. As we left the retreat feeling energized and inspired, I’m already looking forward to next year’s trip. A huge thanks to everyone who joined and made this experience truly special: Chloe Fu, Frederike Wolff, Gökçe Ceylan, Judith Schrader, Petra Koivuvaara, Sabina Pasha, Viktoria Beck. And thanks to Endeit for enabling me to organize this! At the heart of what we do is a commitment to diversity, which leads to better decisions and stronger businesses. I'm already excited for next year’s retreat.” #WomeninVC #Diversity #Lessons
