We're glad to share some new highlights from a recent landmark event at our D-15 innovation center in Silicon Valley. 📣 This gathering united industry analysts and partners to delve into how mobile innovations are shaping the global ecosystem. A key focus was on programmable networks and their ability to adapt to both current and future demands. 🎤 We had insightful conversations with industry leaders, including Anand Parikh, CEO of AirHop, who shared his thoughts on enabling the rApps ecosystem. He outlined the need for an open ecosystem, the shift from lab trials to commercial deployments, and the concept of "Sustainable Open AI RAN."♻️ 💬 "For 5G networks to have good ROI that operators would be happy about, you have to have an open ecosystem for rApps," emphasized Parikh. Ericsson and Batelco expand Batelco's mobile broadband network across Bahrain for enhanced 4G and 5G capabilities, strengthening network coverage and capacity for consumers and enterprises. Batelco deployed Ericsson's latest radio access network (RAN) and Core network infrastructure and modernized its Ericsson Mediation platform to cloud-native technology, actively boosting operational efficiency and scalability to meet rising data demand. Live sports broadcasting is entering a bold new era, as proven by last year’s groundbreaking trial, staged by Ericsson, 3 Danmark, TV 2 Danmark and Sony at a major stadium in the Nordics. 🏟️ Using 3 Denmark’s 5G SA network (provided exclusively by Ericsson) and leveraging the latest in cutting-edge mmWave technology, the trial was a demonstration of how 5G advancements have made it possible to deliver flawless, uninterrupted broadcasts. mmWave's high frequency range of 30-300ghz enables the type of low latency, high bandwidth connections that an event of this size and spectacle demands. With it, CSPs can deliver an elevated experience to fans that expect (and demand more). Broadcasters can enjoy a less logistically demanding process, potentially lowering their production costs by 90%. It’s a clear example of the transformative power of 5G SA networks — but that power must be focused correctly, placing great importance on productive collaboration between companies like Ericsson, 3 TV 2 and Sony.
