Today, we hosted the first-ever face-to-face EUAN Women’s Support Network conference, an inspiring day focused on unlocking opportunities for women in leadership, building a robust network of mentorship, and driving the gender diversity agenda forward. Sponsored by our Executive Director Emer Cooke and supported by the EU Agencies Network (EUAN) and the Joint Undertakings Working Group on Diversity & Inclusion, this event was packed with impactful conversations and actionable insights. Key Highlights: · Women in STEM 👉 Experts explored the evolving landscape for women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and how EU institutions can help accelerate career growth, especially from the critical lens of women’s health. · Women in Public Institutions 👉 We tackled the perceptions and interpersonal dynamics around female leaders and discussed bold strategies to shift cultural norms and break down gender disparities in traditionally male-dominated fields like STEM. Special thanks to Emer Cooke, Olga Borissova, and all our panellists for their thought-provoking contributions. The EUAN Women’s Support Network will continue give women the space to connect, support one another, and drive forward the gender diversity agenda. Lorraine Nolan, Iuliana Vizitiu, Saskia van der Vies, Herlinde Herpoel, Pamela Rendi-Wagner, Sharon McGuinness, Laryssa Patten, Georgia Gavriilidou, Anne-Sophie Henry-Eude, Alessia Vecchio, Mireia Castillón Melero #WomenInLeadership #STEM #WomenInSTEM

📣 EMA recommends approval of Hepizovac, the first vaccine against Epizootic Haemorrhagic Disease (EHD) in cattle! 🐄 What is EHD? ▪️An infectious disease primarily affecting cattle, transmitted by biting midges. ▪️It causes severe clinical signs like fever, sores, drooling, eye inflammation, and even respiratory distress, which can lead to death in some cases. ▪️While EHD is not a risk to human health, it poses a serious threat to animal welfare and agricultural economies. About Hepizovac: ▪️This new vaccine provides protection against the recently emerged serotype 8 of the EHD virus. ▪️The vaccine has shown efficacy in clinical studies, reducing viral presence and clinical signs in vaccinated calves. ▪️Approved under exceptional circumstances due to the urgent need to control EHD outbreaks. This step is vital in safeguarding livestock and supporting farmers affected by this devastating disease. Unregulated advanced therapy medicinal products, or #ATMPs, pose a serious risk to #health. ATMPs are medicines that use gene, tissue or cell technology. They can have great therapeutic benefits for patients. Authorities are warning that unregulated ATMPs are being offered to patients and their families in their moment of need. These can be ineffective and harmful. Check out our website and learn how to stay safe: https://lnkd.in/e8tQqDUD

Being part of a strong #HealthUnion means that patients must have the medicines they need, when they need them. EMA welcomes the Critical Medicines Act, proposed by the European Commission today, to scale up manufacturing and availability of critical and other common interest medicines in the EU. Complementing the proposed reform of EU’s pharmaceutical legislation and the enhanced coordination under EMA, the Act will facilitate investments and incentivise companies to bring the manufacturing of the critical medicines into the EU. The Critical Medicines Act is an important step toward boosting EU competitiveness in the pharmaceutical sector, reducing our dependencies on single suppliers and third countries while strengthening our health security. EMA stands ready to support. Find out more about the Act here: https://lnkd.in/eD_jvsxg EU Health and Food Safety
