As reported by Universiteit Maastricht’s independent student newspaper, de Observant, many students were not happy with the old system, where the students who had accumulated the longest registration time were given priority. As a result, students with less registration time often had to rent more expensive private rooms and wait longer for responses. 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗿 The new system allows students to respond immediately to vacant rooms. Whoever responds fastest will get the room. Students should keep a close eye on the Maastricht Housing website, as rooms are put online as soon as they become available. 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The new system may be disadvantageous for students who have been on the list for some time. All 18,000 enrolled students have received e-mails about it. #expatcentremaastrichtregion #maastrichtregion #welcometomaastrichtregion

This proximity makes you occasionally forget you are in another country, and since they are all Member States of the European Union (EU), one would think that the traffic rules would be the same everywhere. Unfortunately, for us, that is still wishful thinking. One thing at least you don't have to worry about. In all countries within the EU we drive on the right-hand side of the road, thankfully! Unless, of course, you come from a country where people drive on the left, in which case it will probably take a lot of getting used to switching gears. French and German are commonly heard due to the proximity of neighbouring countries Germany and Belgium and visitors from other countries are quick to feel at home. Expat Centre Maastricht Region knows there is always room for improvement. That’s why we’ve put together this survey at maastrichtforum.nl aimed at internationals and cross-border workers living and/or working in the Maastricht Region (Zuid-Limburg). What are your experiences on a personal level and/or work-related? We would love to hear from you! All participants have a chance to win a gift voucher. Once you’ve filled it out, make sure to share the survey with your network as well 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/e4SPE6fQ #expatcentremaastrichtregion #maastrichtregion #welcometomaastrichtregion
