We are thrilled to share that FORWARD.one has led an €8 million investment round in Voltfang, the innovative Aachen-based startup revolutionizing battery storage systems with requalified electric vehicle (EV) batteries. This strategic investment reflects our strong belief that the demand for efficient energy storage solutions is more pressing than ever, especially as we navigate challenges like grid congestion, renewable intermittency, and rising energy prices. As said by Beau-Anne Chilla, “We see Voltfang's batteries as essential not only in advancing Europe's energy transition but also in contributing to greater independence in resources and materials." The round was closed in record time, with significant participation from Interzero and existing investors PT1, AENU, and Helen Ventures, daphni, Aurum Impact and Maximilian Viessmann. With this latest capital injection, Voltfang is poised to accelerate its ambitious goal of deploying 50 MWh of battery capacity by 2025. We are excited to support this remarkable team - David Oudsandji, Afshin Doostdar, Roman Alberti and Dr. Gerrit Janke - as they strive to achieve significant milestones! The technology stems from Tampere University, and finds a strong product-market fit in the food & beverage industry in which the sensor is utilized to optimize manufacturing processes and avoid product losses.
