Here are some critical compliance checks we perform: 📋 Is the ECDIS type-approved according to Res A 817(19), as amended by MSC resolutions? 🗺️ Are back-up arrangements in place with independent ECDIS, position-fixing systems, or a complete set of up-to-date paper charts? 🖥️ Are all ENCs and RNCs up-to-date and ready for use? 👨✈️ Have all officers completed IMO model course 1.27 for ECDIS training? ⚠️ Is there a risk assessment for ECDIS operation, with results integrated into onboard procedures? These are just a few of the many vital checks we conduct to ensure navigation safety on tankers. 🌟 Plus, one of our incentive providers, Alphatron Marine offer discounts on navigation products and services for Green Award Foundation certified ships! 🏅🚢 #MaritimeSafety #BridgeNavigation #GreenAward #AlphatronMarine #SustainableShipping #30YearsOfImpact

A certification and incentive program for shipping. Together we contribute globally to sustainable waterborne transport
Over ons
Together with sea-going ship operators, inland navigation operators, ports, governments, suppliers and service providers, Green Award is successfully committed for almost 30 years to the recognition and stimulation of sustainable and safe shipping. Green Award does this on a non-profit basis with a challenging programme of requirements, combined with a system of inspiration, audit/inspection, certification, and reward. Meanwhile, there are over 185 parties that give ships with a Green Award certificate a (financial) advantage. Green Award started in 1994 with a programme for sea-going vessels, in 2011 a programme for inland shipping was launched. The programme is consistent to 13 UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and is supporting the ESG policies (Environmental, Social and Governance) on around 60 shipping related topics for organisations across the globe. The Foundation is governed by industry representatives

It was indeed an educational trip for us as well, and a memorable moment shared with the students and staff members of MSc in Shipping University of Piraeus
🌍 MSc in Shipping Educational Trip: A Journey Through the Port of Rotterdam 🚢 As part of our 2024 educational trip, our students celebrated World Maritime Day with a special tour of the Port of Rotterdam, one of the busiest and most innovative ports in the world! 🎉🚢 The day began with a guided boat tour on the Rederij Thalassa, led by Green Award Foundation’s Jan Fransen and Keita Shinohara. 🌿 The Thalassa, recently awarded the Green Award Binnenvaart Gold Certificate, highlights the industry's dedication to sustainability after a remarkable engine room renovation. 🌱⚓ Students gained insights into the port's energy transition, maritime safety, and sustainability initiatives. A stop at RDM Rotterdam, a hub of innovation, included an inspiring presentation by the Green Award team on ship certification and environmental stewardship. 💚 Prof. Fani Sakellariadou, a specialist in geochemistry in oceanography, shared insights on the environmental impacts of shipping, emphasizing the need for sustainable practices. 🌍🌊 Prof. Maria Boile, Director of MSc in Shipping University of Piraeus, also contributed her expertise on the role of research and innovation in maritime transport. As the coordinator of the WaterborneTP, she emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving future maritime solutions. 📚⚙️ In recognition of their participation, our students received certificates from the Green Award Foundation for their involvement in presentations on Green Award certification and the Environmental Ship Index (ESI). 🎓🏅 A special thanks to Jan Fransen, Keita Shinohara, Rita Abiodun, and the entire Green Award Foundation team for their insights and warm hospitality, as well as to the crew and captain of Rederij Thalassa. 🚢👏 We'd also like to thank Capt. Dimitrios Mattheou, CEO of Arcadia Shipmanagement Co LTD, for organizing this visit. Your support of maritime education and our program is truly appreciated. 🙏 #mscinshipping #maritimestudies #universityofpiraeus #portofrotterdam #greenawardfoundation #WorldMaritimeDay #rotterdam2024 #20yearsmscinshipping #20yearsandcounting
