A quick reminder that our open day is postponed until further notice! However, there are plenty of other activities during the Weekend van de Wetenschap on October 5th and 6th! 🔬🤖 You can experiment with building your own dikes at our neighbours Welkom bij dbieb to help keep our feet dry. Or learn more about dinosaurs at Natuurmuseum Fryslân! Campus Fryslân and NHL Stenden Hogeschool are also hosting great activities to learn more about science and technology.

Over ons
We are specialized in serious games and want to bring about a positive change in the world through our work. Our studio is based in The Netherlands, but we work and think globally. We offer clients practical, result-focused solutions for serious problems. These include obesity in children (Garfield), peaks in water consumption (Wijk & Water Battle) and motivating children to do their rehabilitation exercises (Gryphon Rider). We want to make serious games accessible for everyone, so we sometimes come up with out-of-the-box solutions. Take the surgeons’ game Underground, where we developed affordable controllers and got them produced ourselves. And yes, it was stressful, and cost blood, sweat and tears, but when that box of controllers finally arrived and everything worked… man, that felt good! We offer our staff a place to develop, to work on something cool and meaningful and to get the best out of themselves. This produces motivated individuals, fanatics in their field. We invest in their creativity and professionalism through training courses, giving them the opportunity to develop their own ideas during working hours, and celebrating successes together.

Get ready for our next Meetup! On Wednesday the 23rd of October we are heading to Groningen for our next Kickstart AI Meetup around the topic: Unlocking the Power of AI in Sports Broadcasting and Serious Gaming! This event is co-organized with Study Association Cover. Speakers that evening are: Wouter Uijens, AI Lead at Studio Automated, who will take us inside the world of automated sports broadcasting. He will explain how they built their AI-powered camera system using computer vision and motion tracking, and what it means to develop something capable of handling the unpredictable nature of live sports. Next up, Luan Duong, AI Engineer at Grendel Games, will walk us through the AI magic happening in serious games, particularly in training simulations for surgeons. He’ll show how they use machine learning models to dynamically generate content, creating personalized experiences for users based on their performance and learning style. Got excited? Then make sure to join us at the De Plek (De Puddingfabriek) from 19:00 - 22:00! Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/e_MQdZrA

While playing games, saving water is not typically the first thing that comes to mind. But did you know that playing our game Water Battle can lead to up to 25% water savings? During our previous Battle, children and their parents teamed up to save the homes of whimsical creatures by being mindful of their water consumption and making smart choices to save water. Participants saved an average of 7% of water, with top scorers even achieving 25% savings! 💧

A simulation is an imitation of reality. We see what might happen in real life, without actually doing it. Simulations are great for teaching and training skills. By adding gamification elements, the effectiveness of simulations can be enhanced. By improving the simulation experience, users will remain motivated for longer periods and receive better training. Want to learn more about the different gamification techniques and how they improve simulations? Read all about it in this article. 📖
