GRESB was recently invited to present at the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services-CIFTIS, one of China's leading exhibitions. The event featured participation from over 2,000 companies and more than 100,000 professionals from 85 countries, making it a valuable platform to discuss ESG innovation. On September 14, at one of the CIFTIS Forums focusing on International Net-Zero Actions and ESG Innovation, Paul Tang, GRESB's Chief Representative in China, introduced GRESB to an audience of more than 300 professionals, and took part in media interviews. This Forum’s remarks were given by Cungen Chen, President of the China Association of Social Workers (former Deputy Secretary of the Central and State Organs Work Committee), and Hualin Zhao, Honorary Chairman of the International Green Economy Association (former Chairman of the Supervisory Board for State-Owned Large Enterprises under the State Council). The keynote speakers included Guangshao Tu, Chairman of the Shanghai Finance Institute (former Executive Deputy Mayor of Shanghai), Zhengwei Zhang, Special Advisor to International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) Chair & Director of IFRS Foundation Beijing Office, and Fei Li, Global Co-Director of Disclosures at CDP. Paul highlighted GRESB’s growth in China, noting a nearly 30% annual increase in participants between 2021 and 2023, reflecting the ambitions and commitments of the Chinese enterprises in pursuing ESG excellence. GRESB continues serving as a bridge between the real asset industry and the financial market, helping connect Chinese enterprises with global ESG standards. Paul stressed the importance of developing ESG capabilities as a long-term process and recommended that both real estate and infrastructure enterprises start as soon as possible to gain a competitive advantage. As key organizer of the Forum, International Green Economy Association (IGEA - www.igea-un.org) is a professional organization promoting the development of green economy, and is a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council China Network and the United Nations Global Compact.
