HOUSE OF DENIM X OR FOUNDATION After welcoming multiple members of The OR Foundation from Ghana to our space and following up with virtual planning sessions, we, as The House of Denim Foundation, finally welcomed Fred Nabi Yankey, the remanufacturing specialist of the OR Foundation, to spend two weeks at our denim innovation campus Denim City in Amsterdam. Given the shared value alignment and vision for a circular fashion industry, House of Denim and The Or Foundation are enhancing this partnership to engage more meaningfully on the topic of upcycling, bespoke tailoring and recycling. This aligns to House of Denim Foundation’s commitment to develop the skill set of the next generation. Nabi’s visit was essential to kickstarting a multi-year partnership that will benefit not only our internal team and our talents but also the Dutch design/fashion community. This multi-year partnership between The Or Foundation and House of Denim will also be beneficial in enhancing the relationship between Ghana and The Netherlands, to better understand the realities and complexities surrounding textile waste that impacts Ghana through the global second-hand clothing trade. Huge challenges but also huge opportunities. What started as a “getting to know each other + learn new skills in sustainability & circularity” became such a pure joy to work together. & Nabi made his first Post Consumer Recycled selvedge jeans which he’s wearing with pride. He became forever part of our family and we were so honored to have him in our House (of Denim). & our Master Tailor Jos was crying when he left… This is the beginning of a partnership which is more than a program or a project, this is purpose, passion & pleasure in the purest form. Towards a brighter Blue! Looking forward to train more talented tailors from Ghana & to start the exchange with our talents!
