During this session, we invite you to share a debrief for the newly published IAF report, 'Under the Banyan Tree: Buyers and Suppliers in Fashion.' This groundbreaking report introduces the “Shared Risk/Reward” approach to create economic value via process and data innovation. By focus on fashion risk and capital and enhancing supply chain flexibility, this business model improves social, environmental, and business outcomes in all tiers of the supply chain. IAF and ITC believe that apparel manufacturers are uniquely positioned to lead initiatives to generate significant value from upstream operations, practices and metrics that accelerate a more sustainable future for fashion. In a 45-minute webinar, IAF and ITC leaders will outline key insights of the report, along with author John Thorbeck. Three industry leaders will share active case studies of Shared Risk/Reward applications with buyers and suppliers: ✅ Brad Ballentine of MAS Holdings will explain how a manufacturer aligns supply chain agility to buying processes that create market and social value for its clients. ✅ Gonçalo Cruz of Platforme will showcase how its digital 3D technology supports supply chain flexibility and scales on demand manufacturing for MAS and luxury partners. ✅ James Theuerkauf of Syrup Tech will highlight the role of AI to enable superior planning between brands and manufacturers, reducing client inventory, demand risk and capital. Message from IAF President on Bangladesh: The IAF, as all actors in the apparel industry, are watching the events in Bangladesh -the second largest garment exporting country in the world- unfold with the strong hope that the caretaker government will be able to bring stability and reconciliation. Our industry is a people’s industry and it stands to reason that at the moment the people in Bangladesh are reshaping their future, this greatly impacts the apparel industry. But the responsibility our industry bears towards the well being of the many workers also means that in situations like this the system keeps a cool head and offers the necessary support. Currently this means that brands and retailers that source in Bangladesh -and that have witnessed the industry’s sizeable safety and environmental investments- remain patient and committed. The sourcing community can actually play a role in fostering the stability in the country that it seeks, and that is by simply not leaving at this pivotal moment. The support of the global apparel industry is a factor determining the speed with which transformation in Bangladesh unfolds and stability returns. This is the moment where the obvious need for collaboration and solidarity across the supply chain is on full display to the world.
