Earlier this month the ICARUS Team headed to the Deltares offices in Delft to host training and the final event of the ICARUS project which is funded by Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR) Attendees included representatives from National Highways, Rijkswaterstaat, Norwegian Public Road Association, BASt in Germany, TII, South Africa, Province of South Holland and Spanish Ministry. The positive engagement from the Project Executive Board has really helped to guide and support the project which has created a multidisciplinary forum that has fully understood the need to find practical approaches to the problem of road resilience to climate change. A report on the outcomes of the workshop will follow, but thank you to everyone for their contributions! 📄D2.2 Guidelines on using performance metrics to make the case for adaptation- July 2023 This document serves as a guideline for National Road Administrations (NRAs) on using performance metrics to make the case for adaptation. Within this document we explore the link between Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and benefits and co-benefits of adaptation, ultimately to describe how to operationalise these within a decision-making context. By effectively expressing and evaluating adaptation strategies based on the existing decision-making context at NRA’s, decision-makers at the NRAs can optimize their efforts to build resilience and foster a more sustainable and resilient future. https://buff.ly/49XXJgP #climatechangeadaptation #climatechange #CEDR #research

Transport for Wales Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan 📄 >> https://buff.ly/3uIq7n2 Transport for Wales (TfW) exists to drive forward the Welsh Government’s vision of a high-quality, safe, connected, affordable and accessible transport network that the people of Wales are proud of. We’re creating a transport network fit for the future, that contributes to the long-term sustainability of Wales achieving the seven well-being goals of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. Stress-test of Dutch Motorway Network 📄>> https://buff.ly/46Rj09z The Dutch National Road Authority (Rijkswaterstaat) has the challenging ambition to establish a resilient road network by 2050. To reach that objective, a stresstest has been developed and applied to identify the effect of future climate conditions and associated weather extremes on the Dutch highway network. 📄D1.2 Report on impact chains, vulnerability and hazard classification - July 2023 Main objective of this guideline is to provide recommendations on how to effectively build the impact chain case for risk assessment and hazard classification according to NRA specificities. Key in this regard is the link that is established between assets (e.g., asset/component/ subcomponent), Climate Impact Drivers (CID), and variation in magnitude and geography under different scenarios according to scientific evidence. https://buff.ly/49XXJgP #climatechangeadaptation #climatechange #CEDR #research
