🌍 Key Insights from the first NWA-ORC Webinar on Maternal and Child Health in LMIC As we continue our series with the NWA-ORC webinars focusing on maternal and child health in LMICs, here are four key reflections from our recent session: •⁠ ⁠Impact of Climate Change on Maternal and Newborn Health: Rising temperatures, pollution, and extreme weather events are significantly affecting maternal and newborn health, particularly in LMICs. To mitigate these risks, it's crucial to integrate climate resilience into maternal health strategies. •⁠ ⁠Health System Vulnerabilities Due to Heat Exposure: Health workers in low-resource settings face extreme heat exposure, which affects their performance and the quality of care they provide. Addressing these infrastructure and wellbeing challenges is essential for improving maternal and newborn outcomes. •⁠ ⁠Ethical and Policy Considerations in Maternal Health: We must prioritize the ethical dimensions of climate change impacts on vulnerable populations, especially women and children in low-income regions. Localized research and equitable resource allocation should guide policy decisions. •⁠ ⁠Interdisciplinary Approaches to Maternal Health Challenges: Tackling maternal and newborn health issues requires collaboration across various sectors, including health, engineering, and social sciences.
