Flight to the Future: Empowering KLM’s Journey ✈️🌍 Last month, we witnessed the energy and ambition of 100 young KLM colleagues during Flight to the Future, an inspiring XXL Round Table hosted by YoungKLM. With sustainability as one of aviation's greatest challenges, our young pioneers came together to tackle the big question: How can we accelerate KLM’s sustainability transition? 🎯 Highlights included: ⦿ Insights from panel of experts  ⦿ Bold pitches from 15 teams, with 3 winning ideas presented to our leadership. ⦿ A shared determination to drive real progress, from hangar to HQ.   Together, we’re taking meaningful steps to lead the industry forward. A special week for KLM at Schiphol: We implemented not one, but two innovations in ground operation. ✈️    Yesterday, the first passenger flight, a Boeing 737, was successfully transported to the Polderbaan runway at Schiphol Airport using a Taxibot! 🚖✈️   Unlike traditional methods, the Taxibot allows aircraft to taxi without running their engines until take-off. This innovation reduces kerosene consumption and CO₂, NOx, and particulate emissions, enhancing air quality, climate, and reducing noise for ground staff. This initiative is a unique collaboration with Schiphol, LVNL, Transavia, TUI, Swissport The Netherlands, easyJet, and other ground handlers.    And today, the first electric material tractor, the 'Goldhofer Sherpa' - used for transporting materials needed for the handing of our flights - was officially put into service. With the arrival of 29 Goldhofer Sherpa's, half of our material tractors on the platform are now electrified. 🔌   This is an important step on our journey towards emission-free ground handling by 2030. With the addition of Goldhofer Sherpa's, we have now surpassed 70% electrification of our ground operation.   #KLM #Electrification #Aviation #Schiphol #Innovation
