After winter, it's almost time to make the most of homegrown forage again! To prepare for the 2025 season, yesterday we gathered our Exos Development Team and Exos farmers at our 6th yearly season kick-off. Together we reflected on last year's successes, tackling challenges, and fine-tuning for an even better season ahead. Joining us was renowned Wageningen University & Research grassland specialist Bert Philipsen, who shared valuable insights on the predictability of fresh grass growth with us. This week Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and Competitive Circular Economy, and Christophe Hansen, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, visited one of our Flemish customers. We believe that innovation can contribute to sustainable agriculture. By valorising manure as RENURE, we improve circularity on farm and reduce the need to purchase artificial fertilizer. I had the pleasure of visiting Koeweidehof farm 🇧🇪 today with Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and Competitive Circular Economy - a great example of how agriculture can drive both food production and renewable energy. Powered by biogas - electricity generated from cow manure and slurry - and solar panels, the farm runs on 100% green energy, with surplus energy shared with local families 🌱☀️ Farmers Marijke d’Hertefelt and Bart Vanderstraeten are leading the way in bioeconomy and circular agriculture, showing how food and energy can go hand in hand to create a sustainable future 🌿 Their work not only supports energy security but also helps reduce GHG emissions and promotes rural innovation. A true model of sustainable farming, proving that food and energy production can work hand in hand for the benefit of our food security, environment and rural communities! 🌾 Keep an eye out for our upcoming European strategy for the bioeconomy, which will complement the recently unveiled Vision for Agriculture and Food
