Meet our newest crew member Robert Dekker. Robert has joined Maaskade Bevrachters in the position of charterer. Within the chartering department he makes sure our customer’s transports are chartered as efficient as possible in our inland barges. “I currently live in Amersfoort but am originally from Rotterdam. I come from a family that has always worked in the inland shipping industry. My parents used to sail on the MV Ready and mainly the canal area towards Berlin with dry cargo. As of October 1, 2024, I started at Maaskade Bevrachters in the chartering department. Before Maaskade, I worked for 8 years at Peterson Rotterdam as an inland shipping charterer for dry cargo. In this position I was responsible for freight negotiations with barge owners, freight offices and clients, planning transports and expanding networks. Outside of work I like to do all kinds of sports such as paddle tennis, football, running, cycling, swimming and I also do a lot of reading.” With Robert joining our team, our chartering department is in full-swing ready to take on every chartering challenge that comes our way. Today we sailed out with the SC ROTTERDAM from Sima Charters bv to welcome the hull of our new stainless steel inland chemical tanker "Spartivento" (YX-H065). She arrived in the Port of Rotterdam together with many more hulls from RensenDriessen. She was loaded on a heavy transport vessel from Shanghai China almost 2 months ago. Tomorrow she will be discharged and the upcoming months she will be outfitted by dolderman. At Maaskade Group we are extremely proud of our large fleet and the crew that man these barges. One of our barges is the Hillegersberg. Built in 2004, she is the largest in the fleet with 110 meters in length, 11,45 meters in width and a capacity of 3.759 m³ divided over 10 heated cargo tanks. This double hull barge is specialized in the transportation of vegetable oils. To make sure it keeps performing, the Hillegersberg just recently received maintenance at BREKO Shipbuilding & Repair / PSI Piping. After more than 50.000 hours it was time for an extensive service on her main engine by dolderman to keep her 2028hp caterpillar 3516 running. When possible, maintenance is often accompanied by sustainable adjustments making it more environmentally friendly with every future voyage.   With over 60 barges, many can be recognized by their names. With our Rotterdam roots, these influences can be seen in names like the Blaak, Weena, Hillegersberg and many more.
