We have fantastic news!! Maya Creatives received scenario writing budget from STICHTING NEDERLANDS FONDS VOOR DE FILM for our film project Hotel Paramaribo. This will be a co-production with Flinck Film and screenplay debut of Manoushka Zeegelaar Breeveld.

Trailer release ROTOWN De twintigers Aisha, Farah en Orlando wonen in Rotterdam. Orlando opent een café in de stad, terwijl de twee vriendinnen hun beginnende carrière leven in proberen te blazen. Maar dat gaat niet zo soepel als ze hopen. Hoe voldoe je aan de verwachtingen van je familie, maar kies je óók voor je eigen dromen? In de vijfdelige NTR-serie Rotown worden de drie vrienden gevolgd in hun zoektocht naar geluk met de nodige struggles en teleurstellingen, wat hun vriendschap af en toe op scherp zet. Aisha (het acteerdebuut van Roziena Salihu en Farah (gespeeld door Ahlaam Teghadouini) delen een appartement in de stad. Aisha probeert door te breken in de filmwereld en Farah begint aan een ondernemersavontuur. Beide vriendinnen worstelen met de verwachtingen van hun omgeving, wat de nodige spanningen met zich meebrengt binnenshuis. Niet alleen hun vriendschap komt onder druk te staan, maar ook de relatie met hun ouders en goede vriend Orlando (Kendrick Etmon) die op zijn beurt zoekende is in zijn rol als café-eigenaar in een veranderde stad. Hoe houd je je hoofd, vol dromen, boven water in een grote stad? Regie en scenario van deze serie is in handen van Fadua El Akchaoui (o.a. bekend van Zina, Nood en Meskina): “Ik wil verhalen maken over moedige meisjes, en in deze serie heb ik er ook een moedige jongen bijgedaan, in een poging om de wereld beter te begrijpen. Rotown is mijn brutale, (ik hoop) grappige en emotionele uitspatting om de kijker verliefd te laten worden, boos te maken, een spiegel voor te houden maar vooral om samen even de buitenwereld te vergeten terwijl we ons door de mooiste stad van Nederland bewegen.” Vanaf vandaag, dinsdag 7 mei is ROTOWN te streamen/bingen op NPO start. Of wekelijks te zien om 22:05 bij Omroep NTR op NPO 3.

Maya Creatives proudly presents to you ROTOWN. A fiction project in the making for many years. Back in 2020 we knocked on the door of Sameer Gardezi and Powderkegtv. The production company of Paul Feig (director of one of our favorite movies Bridesmaids), because we wanted to produce the remake of East of La Brea. With their blessing we knew that only one person could write and direct this, series, the talented Fadua El Akchaoui. We thank Fadua for putting your heart and soul into this project. It has been a true pleasure to realize this passion project with her❤️. To get to this point has been one hell of a ride. But we had great partners in crime Pupkin and NTR. In ROTOWN we follow the three friends Aisha, Farah and Orlando in their search for happiness with the necessary struggles and disappointments, which occasionally puts their friendship on edge.
